So sorry to hear about your fabulous sounding cat - obviously well loved and ruled the roost
I lost my 2 cats 11 & 12 years ago and still miss them and their strange habits - one would wait at the door for me as he was convinced he was a dog
lovely to have a kitten back in the house though enjoy !DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Oh Redo I'm so sorry to hear you lost MBOL - but what a marvellous eulogy you wrote for her in your post. It's so hard to lose any furry member of the family, but some just have such character they hit us more than others, I think.
I'm delighted to hear that you now have LP to train into similar characteristics - I have a soft spot for a black cat since we had HRH! (And that too was an internet name, of course, she was always "HRH The Cat" - with due capitalisation - when referred to on here, twitter etc!)🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks EH.
the training by the Paperbag Princess is going well. She has fully mastered the art of drinking from the tap and showering in the sink. She ignores her fellow feline residents (so they, in a suitably contrary fashion, don't mind her). She supervises my kitchen activity and objects strongly to me being on electronic devices. She will only eat expensive random things, and then only 2.5 times. No more, no less. She laughs at the noise and plays in the sawdust and supervises Mr Redo in the workshop if I am not about. Don't tell her but she has not been shown the boiler cupboard and I have removed the cat ladder. A worthy successor, even if she isn't my beloved Mrs Brady Old Lady.Much gardening done, together with associated spending on basic materials. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Just popping in to say sorry about losing your Old Lady, I'm absolutely dreading losing my old boy, it's hard every time but even harder when they're such a character and "your" cat. 😔
I love black cats but have never had one so far, the little one sounds amazing. 😂 She has started training you well. ❤️Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. Lots of house progress to report here. Mr Redo sanded and re-sealed the front door, and touched up the name plate so it is visible. It is a funny size, wooden and south facing so it needs doing every few years to keep it from splitting. We did some weed and rejuvenation work on the left front garden which is looking much better, although I now need to add those beds to my weeding rota. I have been sorting the dining room (again) which had turned into a dumping ground, partly from when we made my little office accessible again. Some things have exited the building which is always positive. Today the bathroom has been stripped of paint ready for mould treatment (again) and perhaps a change of colour after 20 years of white scandi style bathrooms.
Food wise, really not enjoying cooking atm. Sweet and sour chicken yesterday which was ok but not a make again effort. I suspect this evening will involve something processed from the freezer, or omelettes.
Money? Far too much going out and nothing much but his pensions coming in. My carefully hoarded gold is sadly depleted after two lots of vehicle insurance, car tax, DS2 birthday, and the autoaid renewal. We are no worse on the spending and savings than I expected to be at this point, but I still find taking money out of the pots rather distressing. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese
