So sorry to hear about losing your Old Lady, Redo. But delighted you have a princess to now keep you company.(I find I miss my cats more now the dogs are older and there is less puppy drama to be dealing with. Just trying to get a bit more of the house sorted before I introduce any kitten drama.)Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Another sad to hear about your lovely cat. It is so obvious from your posts that you loved her dearly. I hope your new Princess helps fill the ache - she sounds like a proper little character. xFinally Debt Free! - July 2016 🌟

Thank you both. The Princess is growing nicely - full of bounce and curiosity.House - lots of small wins. Decluttering. Some work on the kitchen and the bathroom.
garden - odd without my helper and once again the weeds have mostly taken over. Small crop of runner beans, small tomatoes and the first cucumber this morning. I did spot a potential first courgette this morning.Food - mostly salad and soup. New aldee helping with reducing spends. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

My courgettes are almost finishing. As are my cucumbers as I didn't keep picking them fast enough. Tomatoes starting to ripen so am crossing my fingers that the wetter weather doesn't bring blight with it. French beans are almost done, a few runners, and I've spotted some borlotti and am debating whether to eat them fresh or dry them.2

Aw another one here just catching up and here to say so sorry about your Mrs Brady ♥️ I've only ever had one cat, a fluffy little grey cat that looked half Maine coon but was so tiny under her fur. She came to me from a farm when the farmers cat had too many kittens. She was so tiny and instantly took to me, I was about 9 I think...she would put each of her paws around my shoulders and nestle in to my chin purring and kissing me. If anyone else in the house tried it she'd hiss and spit and scratch at them 🤣 she died Many years ago now but she lived to be just under 20. I still miss her and haven't ever got another cat in place of her so totally understand that void they cause. I've just got an old man dog now who's 12.5years old - oddly enough he's as fluffy as she was and exactly the same colour! I'm obviously meant to have grey animals ♥️😊MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. # “A man's not dead while his name is still spoken”
Life changed in the space of a phone call earlier this week. Mr Redo had a fatal heart attack unexpectedly, and and after 23 years together, he is gone. I am mostly broken but this too shall pass.
I have thought long and hard about stopping posting altogether, or even starting a new diary in a different part of the forum, but actually I think that writing about what is happening and the practicalities of bereavement will help me with focus in the coming weeks, may help others in the same situation, and I hope that your collective support and knowledge may help me too.
