Five cats, did I hear you say @redofromstart. That's slacking! May I suggest that seven is the bare minimum if you're going to bother at all...you are doing brilliantly. Onwards and upwards love Humdinger xx6

Was your whole house a replica of an ancient Egyptian temple? To help the cats feel properly worshipped?7

HRH was TERRIBLE with trees. Great at climbing them, and did so very enthusiastically, but once up there her usual feistiness disappeared completely and she too would sit up there and wail. This always caused a few problems as of course living in a flat we didn't possess anything that could even vaguely be described as a ladder... Fortunately on the occasions when she got too far up for MrEH to be able to reach her from our little set of steps, either after a few hours she either slithered or fell down, or on one notable occasion he was able to grab her by the collar with the litter-picker-stick and lift her far enough down that she could then be grabbed... Once she got past about 6 or 7 thankfully she did start to realise that climbing them in the first place probably wasn't the best idea...🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

redofromstart said:A quick coffee turned into reading my car insurance renewal, which had nearly doubled against last year! Shame because they were so helpful and I would have chosen to stay with them for a small premium but £400 extra is a bit extreme. Anyway, a few minutes on a comparison site and I have more than halved their price (with the other super helpful insurance company happily), and gained a £20 voucher for MrS. I hadn't used auto renew so at least I don't have to ring and have the annoying conversation at least.I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. 8 cats! Wow / that’s a load of tree rescuing
glad you managing to get clarity on the clutter - as KK says slow and consistent wins the race
I sold my car a few years ago when I moved one mile north and my insurance quote was 5 x my previous place !!DON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Insurance companies really do try it on to a ridiculous degree don't they, they're definitely the 'pervy man in the pub being inappropriate to women at any opportunity' of the financial world.
Looking forward to switching from Battle Of after their hope-raising emails debacle!4 -
We had ten cats at one point growing up. My mum took two rescues in. Obviously both were pregnant 🙄 and obviously us three young girls fell crazy in love with all the kittens and wouldn't allow her to get rid of any 😆😆...I'm allergic now though so can't have any. I live through all your (and everyone else's) fab cat stories on here 😁 cats getting stuck up trees is par for the course 😆.
I can't believe you were out in this freezing weather in the garden. Were you having a hot flush? That's the only time I'd be out there that long!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Nothing at all has changed in the few months since I changed my car and they ran a new quote. Madness! My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I'm wondering if it's time to put one of the children on the car insurance (if they aren't already). Could it be that you are being penalised for not sharing the car with Mr Redo? Cruel though that is.
I seem to remember people adding other family members to reduce insurance costs.
I'm glad you got the cat back safely!I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)
