Good point about checking what happens if you can add one of your children, might hike the premium or lower it. I remember being astonished that PPH premium fell by 35% if he added me, the irony being he bought a car I could not drive due to injuries to an arm (long since healed but took years). If gives me satisfaction to know his insurance will have gone upMade it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

I get about adding people, and tweaking what you do for a living, but what irritated me here was that I got the new car and quotes after we had lost Mr Redo, and had to change my information with them on the phone which gave the new price, and they have used the exact same information to run the renewal quote.
Adding the children would add significantly to the cost given that it is a high insurance class already - they are 20 and 21, one passed the test a few weeks ago, the other has his test in a few weeks. I am on their insurance for the little car, as was their Dad. I bet that shoots up on renewal too.
Lots of skip filling progress outside, just stopped for coffee before I start again. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I have been on my own on my insurance for years now. Last year mine more than doubled for no other obvious reason than I had gone from 77 to 78. I could get it down by much. I did wonder if it was because it was a 3 year fix, by which time I will be eighty (it looks less when you type the word not the numbers). There have been a lot of people saying how much their insurance has gone up in the last year or so & part of it is due to the difficulty in getting parts from abroad now.

It sounds as though you've done what you could about the insurance, I'm sorry we've not been able to bring it down for you. I guess at 20 and 21, they will be seen as higher risk and in time that should change but for now it's an expensive time.
Well done on the skip filling and getting visible results! Not long now till the garden starts to wake up for the spring, and you will enjoy it all the more for the clearance.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Do love filling a skip. It is just so satisfying I'm probably a minimalist at heart despite the stuff I have.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
