Oh I definitely have White Coat Syndrome, masked by a very calm-looking exterior, lol.
What would you get if all you got was what you were thankful for?0 -
Yes - I’ve had white coat syndrome for years and the 12 hour monitor I used hurt like hell every 1/2 hour when it took the pressure and I was anticipating it taking it……hence the very high readings 🥴 I mentioned the painful readings to the pharmacist and she reckons my veins sensed I was tense and tightened up making the machine squeeze harder to try and get a reading ……then a viscous circle began 🫣
Money wise - I spent £7 on loo roll, a combination lock for the lockers when I go to aqua, and a wire brush to get some rust from a radiator.

me too on the BP problem. I can usually pass the in person one if they let me sit for a few minutes breathing slowly and with my arm supported before they put the horrid thing on and then don't talk to me while it is running.

I still think that the bp cuff is much tighter than it used to be - hence the tensing up,as,to me, it feels like your arm is going to explode……
My surgery will loan a bp monitor for a small deposit. When I dropped my readings in, I was asked if I’d worked out the average…..thus immediately sending my bp soaring again….

Can I just ask you wise folks and double check what I thought was correct.
We recently filled the forms for POA and sent them off. I’ve had a request for £92 each for myself and Dh. Am I right in thinking it’ll be another £92 each for the health ones too. I haven’t been asked for the money for those yet - everything was in the same envelope when I sent them…..have I missed understood and it’s £92 for the whole package. 🥴😯It’s not been a no spends day but I suppose it’s money well spent.

It is £92 each segment for the POA….i thought it was but then doubted myself when only 1 element had been charged. They obviously bill from different departments.
We had a good but unexpected day yesterday. We’d planned on giving the new plaster another coat of paint. The garage that was supposed to be going some warranty work on Millie Motorhome next Wednesday phoned to see if there was any chance we could drop it off yesterday…so Dh followed by Ds for a lift home, took the van in. I decided to sweep the front as it had leaves and general winter debris all around and it’s impossible to sweep with a Motorhome and car parked so I made the most of the sunshine and empty drive. Sweeping is still something I struggle with so it took me ages and then the sweeping brush broke 😳so I ended up using a smaller brush. As I tried to open the front door the key was going round but nothing was moving- eventually something clicked and I managed to open it. So I was investigating and then it stuck in the locked position and nothing moved after that…..(the door was open whilst I was investigating) I visualised emergency locksmith’s 😳😳😳 I phoned Dh to see if there was anything he could do. He came home rather than doing what theyd planned after dropping the van off. Thankfully after unscrewing the lock he realised where the fault was and sorted it. It had slipped out of alignment. It made me think what’s happen if it did it again and we were locked out.
We walked into town along the river to get some back door keys cut for on our key rings. £9 each……but considerably cheaper than an emergency locksmith.
Id booked onto aqua last night but was totally shattered, however I’d left it too late to cancel and would have been charged if I’d not gone. I enjoyed myself but I knew I’d done way too much after sweeping and walking too 😳 I have barely been able to put my foot on the floor today - my ankle has been awful so I’ve sat and crocheted most of the day. Ds is taking me out for Mother’s Day on Monday and I want to be able to walk. (We don’t do Mother’s Day on the actual day as it can be a rip off ) We’re going to a NT place in Wales to see the daffodils and then for dinner out in a lovely restaurant which does a good mid week offer 😜👍
We weren’t expecting Millie Motorhome back until next week but the garage phoned and it was ready this afternoon so Dh went on the train to collect it 😀 We are weighing up the pros and cons as to whether to keep Millie or trade her in…..it all depends on what houses we see when we move……Hopefully we’ll get the plaster painted tomorrow then we can get someone in to value the house so we’ve more of an idea what kind of house we can aim for and maybe start looking when we go down at Easter.

Millie Motorhome may be very useful if/when you move, if you move to a home that needs any refurbishment to the kitchen/bathroom??

Good point Satchmo.
Dh did some emulsion painting in the hall yesterday and I started with the gloss which Dh hates doing. I love it and managed most of it sitting or kneeling down so no pressure on my ankle. I’m so pleased we’ve started doing it as Dh only wanted to paint 1 wall. It looks so much brighter already and it’s no where near finished yet.
No cash spent as I already had all the paint in and I haven’t been out anywhere at all.
Tomorrow ds is taking us out . Think I e already said we’re going to see some Daffodils in Wales and then for dinner out as an early Mother’s Day present.
Right I want to finish the paintwork going g up the stairs. I’ve really paced myself and it’s taking me much longer than it used to…..but it’s going in the right direction 😀January spends - £587.582 -
Where has time gone. I’ve had a busy week.
We had a lovely early Mothers Day trip to Wales. The daffodils were beautiful and we had a walk along Llandudno pier before heading for a delicious meal. I think ds is trying to visit as many favourite places as we can before he heads to his new house at t’other end of the country.
Ive continued with the painting in the hall and it’s looking fairly respectable. I went on our local freebie page to request a little bit of skirting board and somebody came up trumps for us. A 12 inch piece went awol - probably scooped up with the rubbish after theyd knocked the plaster off. We have some built in shelving which is a light grey colour and the newly painted surfaces made it look very scruffy….so yes that needed a lick of paint too…..in fact it needed 2 coats. I didn’t have any of the original paint left and was reluctant to buy more so used outside wooden furniture paint which we had in. If it can work outside I don’t see why it won’t work inside 😀👍 So that is now done….its darker than the original but looks fine. There’s just 1 handrail and the piece of skirting left to paint now and I think we’ll have got away without having the complete hall and staircase decorated. 🤞😁A friend came around mid week and I’ve been out with different friends today……tomorrow I intend to stay in and sort the bedrooms out as they’ve become a bit of a dumping ground since we’ve been decorating. Then the plan is to get somebody in to value the house so we know what we can realistically look at. Hopefully it’ll be more than a garden shed 🥴😳
I’m taking a friend to C0st0 on Wednesday as she’s organising a lunchtime music and lunch do on Thursday to which I’m also going….
My ISA matured last week so we headed to the branch to renew that. We got quite a good deal I think 3.9% with a withdrawal allowed without any loss of interest. I’m guessing by the time we’ve moved though I won’t need to worry about loss of interest as all my cash will have been snaffled up. I do ask myself if we’re doing the right thing.
It was quite sad hearing the news this morning about the outbreak of meningitis. One of the teenagers who lost their life went to my dgd school - opposite ends of the school age though. They were advised to stay off school this morning, but had word from the school to send them in later in the day. Such a terrible illness that comes on so quickly and the symptoms can so easily be missed. Here’s hoping the others affected make a full recovery.
My brother is having the 2 nd operation tomorrow. Fingers crossed he has a speedy recovery.
im ready for the warmer weather that has been promised later this week. I’ve been so cold recently so am heading up to bed now for another early night.January spends - £587.581
