it’s actually Tuesday not Monday I go back to the hospital….got myself mixed up. I have a phone appointment on Monday afternoon which has been arranged for a while. It’s with the pain clinic and several people are apparently in on the call. I have to go through a video link at 1 pm….not sure what to expect and don’t really fancy it.
It was my friends 40th birthday and we’d been invited to the party this afternoon. I popped over for a short time as I knew there would be people I wanted to see there. I was glad to get home though. Think we were only out for an hour.
i think the best investment I’ve made recently is a neck fan…..worth every penny for keeping me cool 😄 I ended up sleeping downstairs again last night as I don’t think I could get up from lying position in the bed with the heavy plaster on my arm, and instead of having it around my neck I had it over my legs pointing towards my tummy. I slept better than I have in a long time 😀
I haven’t spent any money over the last couple of days. I do want to get some cash out as I’m going to change my bank account and don’t want to get caught out if there’s any problems with the change over. My bank is being taken over and there isn’t a a branch where we’re moving to. The bank I’m going to is offering £175 for a switchover and there’s a branch on the high street so I think it’s a no brainer.

An absolute no brainer to swap banks ready for your move. Just make sure that if there is anything you need to do to get the £175 that you actually do them! I missed out when I swapped an account to First Direct as one of the conditions was to pay in £1,000 and I hadn't spotted that and only paid in £800!

Thanks Denise…..I’ll check the small print. As far as I can remember it just needs 2 direct debits. Ds went in to transfer an ISA last week and that’s when I decided to make the move after seeing the advert and we’d spoken to staff about it but I wanted to cancel some standing orders and check dates of cash entering and leaving the accounts before I committed.

I got ds to drop me in town this morning to sort the banking out. Dh had planned to come with me but ds had his eye an an expensive dining table for his new house. He’d seen the same table in an auction house - it was new and boxed but he had no idea what condition it was in inside the box, but put a bid in for £150 and won the bid….with fees and vat it was around £220…..and was £1200 in the shop. There’s a small bit of trim missing but ds reckons he can get it sorted. So Dh took ds to collect it. I went to switch my account and completely forgot it was a joint account.Dh is on my account and I’m on dhs - just incase anything happens to either of us but we never think to use each other’s account….although neither of us would mind if we did. So that was a bit of a waste of time. Were both going back on Wednesday.

From there I had a virtual appointment at the pain clinic. The blooming thing wouldn’t let me on. I phoned appointments and ended up getting upset with the lady who answered the phone…..technology really gets me wound up and I’d been trying to get on line for ages. I’ve had some disturbed nights and I think it all just got to me. All I want is an alternative to the painkillers icant tolerate for when my joints are bad…..not sure why they’ve put me on a virtual call with other people 🤷🏻‍♀️I’ll go through the motions at the next appointment on Monday though.

I’m at the fracture clinic in the morning they’re going to X-ray my arm again. It’s certainly not as bad as my last fracture on the other arm as I can freely move my fingers .,.,,I had no chance of doing that last time at this stage. I’ve perfected the techniques of doing things with 1 arm and it’s easier this time as it’s my left arm in plaster and I’m right handed…..last time was my right arm 😯.

From there I’m going to see my brother who will be 79 and wish him happy birthday.
Luckily we have plenty of frozen home made meals in but I’m going to nip in M&S for some nice salad and fruits. I’ve found myself fancying melon.

They took the plaster off when I went to the hospital the other day. They’ve given me an all singing and dancing splint which enables me to bend my arm to prevent muscle wastage. It’s quite fascinating and certainly a talking point. The bruising is pretty spectacular ranging from yellow, red purple and black.
I seem to have been very busy so have made myself chill this afternoon. I sorted the bank accounts on Wednesday, today I’ve sent dental receipts to HSA for refunds, filled passport forms in paid for new passports and sent old passports off. It says 3 week turnover so we shall see. Our old ones run out in a couple of days and we want them for ID as much as anything else. The last ones never left the country 😯

It was a friends funeral yesterday. I worked closely with the lovely lady and she was the only person who stayed in touch after I was ill and finished work earlier than planned. She joined the singing group I go to and we did lots of things together. The group sang at the service and I hope we did her proud. I think the emotional rollercoaster after getting through the week on adrenaline after hurting my arm came to a head. I was very tired today.

We went into town to a little jewellers inthe market as my engagement ring was squashed many moons ago. I can usually get it on and off with a bit of twisting , pulling and pushing. I thought they were going to have to cut it off when they put my arm in plaster. It did eventually come off after putting gel on. So whilst I can’t wear it I decided to get it sorted. Off we toddled to the market where there is a lovely independent jeweller ‘sorry for any inconvenience but we’re shut today due to unforeseen circumstances’ said the signage….I wasn’t impressed so we went to a different one - it’s 2 weeks until someone can actually look at it for an estimate 🥴so we’ll try the original place tomorrow. No idea it’ll cost but it really does need doing.

Dd and gks are coming home for a few days on Tuesday. I’m looking forward to seeing them but I don’t think I’ll be able to do much with them….i think Dd wants to say goodbye to her childhood home……and satisfy herself I am actually ok

Sorry to hear about your friend. Sounds like you did indeed do her proud.

When Mr SA ran me over on his mobility scooter and trashed my ankle I had a removable cast that I could take off to do exercises to prevent muscle wastage. I ended up going back to work early (my choice) and it was priceless seeing people’s reactions to my cast placed on my desk while I did my ankle exercises 🤣

It was sad about my friend she was the life and soul wherever she went. The children at school adored her and we were often working as a pair….we bounced off each other and she played good cop whereas I played bad cop. It worked well and there was always lots of laughs. I’ll miss her. Unfortunately she battled with an alcohol addiction and her liver was damaged beyond repair. She wasn’t what I’d call ‘typical’ alcoholic who was drunk a lot but did drink every day and that was enough. 😢…….food for thought.

I collected my ring today and it looks like new. I can’t get it on but my hand is still swollen although it has gone down a lot. I think I might have to get it resized eventually. I didn’t know how much to expect but was happy enough with £25.
Dd and the dgk have been here since Tuesday, they went home this morning. It was lovely. Dd wanted to see my brother before we move….it was emotional, as realistically it could well be the last meeting. He’s 80 next time around and he can’t make the journey to the new place. I’ll continue to come back and see him but not sure how realistic it will be for Dd to come back here once we’ve moved. We’ve done crafts, played games and it’s felt very relaxed with no agenda. We’re usually dashing here , there and everywhere. And the highlight of the visit for gks was visiting C@stc@ for free samples and a massive slice of pizza on the way home from my brothers 😂😂
We’ve provisionally booked the removal van but it can be changed if there’s a hold up. Our buyers have been sitting on the survey for weeks and decided this week they want lots of jobs doing but also want to be in before September. Anyway we’ve negotiated £2000 off the price. Annoying but we still got more than we expected and it’ll cover buying our new place and the associated solicitors fees etc. ds and Dh going to ds new house to meet builders next week and taking as much as they can from the shed in the car. I’m going to stay here to give them more space in the car. I’ll be quite pleased to have a bit of peace and I’m finding I can begin to use my arm a bit, although my shoulder is really giving me agro….more so than my elbow. I had an MRI scan on it this afternoon and go to the hospital in August…so will see if there’s any soft tissue damage. I had an x ray on it when I went to A&E and no fractures showed up.
I think that’s about it….as Beanie would say I’m plodding along…..getting frustrated I can’t do what I want sorting things ready to move. But anything not sorted will have to be packed and taken with us. It is what it is.
