Family have been and gone. We had a lovely time…..a day out, lots of games nice food and baking and generally having fun together. Now I’ve just got to re organise the bedrooms back to their usual state. There is no rush as I’m shattered…..they’ll still be there next week when I’ve had chance to chill.A friend picked me up this morning and we headed to see a different friend who has moved an hour away. We had a lovely day. There is absolutely no way I’d have driven there as it was all motorway 😳 The friend we visited treated us both to lunch which was delicious, as a thankyou for making the effort to visit.I’m meeting a different friend in the morning…..it’s all or nothing. I’m hoping for a quieter week next week.
i went to the hospital yesterday to collect some different ankle splints. These were much better than the previous ones and so far are comfortable. I’m not that convinced they’re making much difference, but the best I’ve had so far. I’d been asked to take some shoes with a view to altering the sole to create more stability. However with the brace and shoe insert she didn’t think altering the shoe would be of any benefit. This means I can take the boots I’d bought back for a refund. No point paying £90 for a pair of boots that were ok but I’d only bought to be altered. I’ll take them into town with my receipt on Monday when I go for an eye test.January spends - £587.581 -

It’s been a busy week. I’ve seen some friends I haven’t seen for a long time…..it’s definitely all or nothing. The singing group I go to and a performance last night supporting a local film premiere which was a community project bringing together folk who had never had anything to do with filming before. It was quite good (if a little long winded 🤫) but it brought lots of people together using various skills to get the whole 2 hours of filming produced. We had to dress as if we were going to a Hollywood performance….even though it was a church hall. Much fun was had. It was like a trip down memory lane for me as it was literally around the corner to where I lived until I was 21. The lady I’d taken got a tour of my life 🤣🤣🤣….my house, my school, where I got married etc. Hopefully I didn’t bore her too much.
im absolutely shattered and ds is coming around in half an hour so we can go to C@stc@. I’ll be in bed early tonight and then tomorrow I need to do some housework. I still haven’t taken the camp beds down from Dd staying. Downstairs isn’t too bad but I’ve just dumped everything from down here into the bedroom 😳🥴😳
Not much cash has been spent - other than £20 on washing powder and some fresh bits. I intend to start filling the notebook I bought and recording spends for November. It’s dhs birthday next week and I have absolutely no idea what to buy him.January spends - £587.582 -

We went for a walk along the canal which runs at the back of the RHS gardens. It was a lovely autumnal day. There is a pub by the canal where we had a coffee and cake for £3.50 each which I thought was excellent value. There was a shelf full of board games so we passed best part of 2 hours in there playing articulate before walking back along the canal to the car and nipping to c@stc@. I didn’t need much but still parted with £50 - that did include some trousers for Dh and a cooked chicken for the bargainous price of £4. They wanted £6 for a smaller uncooked one in the supermarket yesterday…it stayed in there at that price.January spends - £587.583

I’m quite pleased that we did lots of niggly jobs we’ve been putting off forever. We burnt 2 big carrier bags of old paperwork. I went through it all in the summer and every time we’ve gone to light the fire pit to get rid, one side or another has had washing out. So today was the day. I do love a fire….there’s something very therapeutic about watching the flames. We’ve finally taken the beds down from Dd and family’s visit and all the bedding is washed. Dh has emptied Millie Motorhome ready for part 2 of her hab check….to see if the damp they found last time is still there or not.I’ve not watched last nights strictly yet so am just about to watch it and follow with the results show 👍January spends - £587.581

I had a message from a friend yesterday asking if I fancied a trip to the big city to find Paddington Bear 😂😂😂 I had to say yes. So off we toddled to the train station into town. It still makes me smile that I can use my bus pass to travel on the local trains 😀 We found Paddington Bear had our photos taken and went off in search of a cuppa. We joked about going into a posh restaurant that goes well with Holly…..a place neither of us had visited. As we passed we checked out the menu and yes, it was expensive but not as bad as we’d anticipated. So we went in for brunch which was delicious. The staff were lovely and it was just a great unexpected experience 😁 From there we had a little meander around town - the Christmas market stalls are all being erected. I had a nosey in M&S for a birthday present for Dh. The jumpers seemed very expensive..and the last ones I bought him from there went very fluffy so I didn’t bother. I went to Sainsbobs and got a very similar one for nearly half the price. He can put a hole in a £50 one just as easily as a £25 one. I really don’t know what he does 🤷🏻♀️😂😱…everything he wears ends up with tiny holes around his tummy…..and he’s tried different belts in case they were the cause. I realised I had a £6 off £30 voucher. So I also bought a birthday cake and card and box of walnut whips too - all for under £30 😁👍 I’ll take him out over the weekend. I was very pleased to get it sorted.
I have started recording my spends and eats in my new project book. I’m going to take my ‘fun’ money out in cash each month and pay for treats (like yesterday) from this. When it’s gone it’s gone. I’ll also carry over anything extra 🤞to let it mount up and then I can enjoy extra treats without guilt.I went to SW this morning and put the 1 1/2 lb back on. I’ve been out so many times this week and then decided I’d blown it anyway so ate all sorts of cake and chocolate over the week. I’m wasting the 12 week countdown I bought. Kick up the backside has been duly given and I’m also tracking my food and thoughts. I always start off well with this then it doesn’t happen.
i had an eye test the other day and there wasn’t much change so I’ll wait until after Christmas for new specs. I’ve thought for a while my hearing isn’t as sharp as it was but I could barely hear the softly spoken gent who did some of the rests. So I’m going for a hearing test next week as I think my hearing aids need a tweak.I used my gym membership today for the first time in ages. I really enjoyed aqua but I’m a tad concerned about my elbow. I suddenly got a sharp pain. I can move it but can’t put any weight through it. It took me ages to cut chips from potatoes for tea as I had to hold the knife with that arm and press with my opposite arm. I’m hoping I’ve probably just strained something. All the X-rays of the false radial head were fine when I had them x rayed in the summer and I haven’t done anything to jar it in any way. It’s a bit concerning though. I’ll give it until Monday and will have to get it checked if it’s still the same.I’m meeting another friend tomorrow and it’s Dh birthday on Friday. I can’t believe it’s a year since we went to London for his 70th.January spends - £587.583
