Milann’s mutterings through retirement

Feeling much more human today. The cold has dried up a lot but I’ve still got a chesty unproductive cough. I’ve got the bedding in the wash on a hot cycle to get rid of lingering germs. I want to begin putting the guest beds up as Dd and family are arriving at weekend and I want to avoid having to do them last minute.I want a trip to C@stc@ before weekend if possible as I’m running out of quite a few staples I buy in bulk from there….but I don’t want anything for the freezer.£12 spent n window cleaner……worth every penny to me - all the outsides and inside downstairs. He isn’t perfect but good enough to save me clambering on windowsills to do them. I can reach upstairs easily but the only get done once in a while.January spends - £587.582

Glad you're feeling a bit better.
£12 is good for inside and outside windows. I pay £10 just for outside.
A cruise to look forward to is a great incentive to lose weight. Talking of people using SW more for socialising, I bumped into someone who used to help out at WW classes pre-Covid and she said she goes to SW now mainly for socialising and accountability. It's such a shame WW went mostly virtual as I enjoyed the weekly meetings.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
Hope you start to feel better soon.
There seems to be so many cold bugs going around at the minute.0 -

Much better today. Still got a chesty cough first thing but so far so good.
😂😂😂to the clothes having to be looser at the end of the cruise….luckily all my clothes have to be stretchy and flared around the tummy these days 😂😂 No more has been mentioned about the cruise so maybe I’m just being hopeful…..I’ll give it a few days and casually bring it up.I definitely didn’t dream it 😂
The beds weren’t made up yesterday but I did clean the house and catch up on washing and ironing. I sat and crocheted after that.
ive got an appointment at podiatry at 9.30 so cadging a lift there with Dh and will have a mooch in town before heading home.January spends - £587.582 -
I’ve still got a chesty, unproductive cough and tickle throat but other than being tired I feel ok.
Today I got Dh to drop me at the tram stop whilst he went to his U3A uke group. I went to the shopping mall to get gdds birthday present and to try to get some ankle boots. The lady in the orthotic dept wants to build them up on one side since they can’t operate on my ankle. Hopefully this should stabilise it more than it is atm. I couldn’t find any suitable. It can’t have a moulded sole which the majority seem to have. I’ll go into my local town where I looked earlier this week. There were more ‘decent’ rather than’fashion’ shoe shops in my town than the big mall. Which really surprised me. There are so many boarded up units in the mall….I haven’t been for ages and was shocked . We had a free cuppa each in JL.
I went to SW yesterday and lost 1 1/2 lb and won slimmer of the week 🤣🤣🤣🤣just shows how bad our group is if I won. I had a small bag of food as my reward 😀 I’m nearly back to where I was last January 👍 I also won the raffle of a soup recipe book….its got some nice soups in so I’m going to try a new soup every week as I’m in a bit of a food rut.
Dh has confirmed he is finishing work in March and we will go on a cruise although he hasn’t booked one yet. Got to admit I’ll believe it when I see it 😂😂😂😂 but I’ve got my incentive now to get in my dresses 😁
From the shopping mall we popped over to C@stc@ £150 later but we stocked up on lots of things….things we needed and things we didn’t know we needed until we saw them 🥴
I'm going to attempt to go to singing tomorrow, although I suspect I’ll be doing a lot of miming as I don’t think my voice will take it.January spends - £587.582 -
Well done on being Slimmer of the Week 👏 I always have soup for my lunch, I can credit it for me getting to and remaining at goal for 22 years.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Depends on your taste Beanie. I like the sound of most of the soups but others were turning their noses at them.I went to the big mall and a dress was winking at me through the window. I tried the dress on and although it was a tad snug , it fitted everywhere else. So I bought it £8….which I thought was a bargain. I got the birthday present I wanted for gdd and waited to meet Dh. I showed him the dress in the bag in JL as we were having a free cuppa. I put the bag on the floor under the table, From there we headed over to the car to go across to C@stc@…..did our shopping and headed home. As I was in bed last night I couldn’t remember seeing my dress as I was putting everything away. Dh checked the car this morning…..no sign of it. I phoned JL….i was really pleased to find a phone number on the website. I shouldn’t have been as it eventually - after every conceivable combination of options went to a central call centre and I spoke to a lady - I could barely understand her with my poor hearing and her accent. Anyway she asked for my e-mail and about half an hour later I had mail saying no such bag was found. So it wasn’t such a bargain. At least I hadn’t left a bag with anything too expensive. Gutted.com. I really can’t think of what else might have happened to it 😢🤬 I think I might actually visit the store and ask in person next week 🤷🏻♀️ I suspect someone has picked it up. It’s finding time to go though as I’ve got another busy week next week. Dd is still here on Monday, I’m at the hospital Tuesday and going out with a friend Wednesday.
I don’t know where today has gone. I did go singing but found it hard going on my throat. There is great excitement though as our leader has just released an album. It’s been in conjunction with a producer from London who has had some pretty famous artists. I want him to do well but don’t want to loose him. From there I went shopping and finally got some shoes for the orthotics lady to sort out. I hope they’re right. If they’re not suitable I can return them within 28 days.
Dd and family are coming tomorrow. No beds have been put up yet and I haven’t hoovered since earlier this week. Right I’m going to do a quick whizz around and see how much I can do in the next hour…then I’m having an early night and getting up early in the morning. Dd would happily put them up herself but I prefer to have it ready so we can spend the time together 👍 Sitting on here isn’t getting much done 🤔
