Where have the days gone 😳 I had a totally restful day on Thursday and most of Friday.
Dh had to take Millie Motorhome for its hab check. Unfortunately they found a small area in the back corner with a little bit of damp. So it needs to go back in a month to monitor it and see if it needs a warranty claim. I’d rather it show something in a months time so it can be sorted under warranty rather than rear it ugly head once the warranty has expired. We had to take it to a different garage as the place we bought it from went into liquidation in the summer. So sad as they were lovely people who lost their jobs in an instance. Anyway, we (mainly Dh) completely emptied the van and (mainly me….dh would have squirrel everything back 😂😂) throughly sorted everything before putting it back. That was Friday and Saturday accounted for.
Yesterday a friend called around for brunch, which was lovely but she had some worrying news to share which wasn’t so lovely.Later in the day we went to see the man who runs the singing group perform with his band. They were fantastic, he is releasing an album in a couple of weeks so I half hope he makes it big time but what’ll happen to our daytime singing if he makes it big. I think it’s the friendliest group I’ve ever been to. From there we went to ds who had made a delicious Shepherds pie and apple crumble….with home grown potatoes and apples 😀
I came away with a big bag of frozen raspberries and gooseberries to make jam with. But I’m heading out for a coffee with an old work friend so no jam making will take place until I get home. They’re still semi frozen anyway so they’ll be defrosted properly by later. He’s been picking and freezing them all summer.
Tomorrow will be another chilling day and I’m meeting a friend on Wednesday. Thursday will be a tidying day and packing the van as we’re going away on Friday for the weekend. A town not far away has a music festival on. We went a couple of years ago and it was great…every pub and empty space had something happening.
i think things settle down when I get back and I can catch up on a few things. Including some crochet I’m desperate to see progress
Spend-wise since I came back from dds when I started my October count - I’ve spent £20 barring a few pennies in Lidl. I only went in to pick up my free birthday bakery product 😂😂😂 Then circa £10 on drinks yesterday and £2.50 on a coffee whilst picking up another free cake from Gregggggggs….i took both cakes home and we did a taste test. Greggggggs didn’t win. It’s rather worrying as there is a new drive through around the corner from me….i could easily fall into the trap of too many coffees in there 😳
Total so far £35 (ish)January spends - £587.583 -
Not sure where the week has gone. I’ve met up with a couple of friends, had some restful days in between and had a bit of a tidy up too.I spent a couple of hours volunteering in the reception class at school with a teacher I used to work with…just a bit of shared reading. I loved it nd forgotten how much I missed it. A couple of hours was enough 😂😂😂 I went straight back into the classroom role and voice without even thinking 😂😂😂😂
We went away in Millie Motorhome on Friday and despite getting very wet on a walk by the sea when ds came out to play on Saturday we had a lovely time. Only an hou or so up the road as there was a music festival on. We spent some time in the town and some time at nearby places.A lot of sitting people watching takes placethese days rather than walking the miles we used to walk.I’m currently sitting under my heated blanket watching catch up strictly. I’m still on Movie week…so got another couple left to watch.
I’d planned a bit of a lazy week as I am really tired…..I think my busy times have really caught up with me. Then a friend messaged and said she’d pop around in the morning and another said she’d popover in the afternoon. It’ll be lovely to see them both though and they’re both good friends so they’ll take me as they find me. I’ve got my flu and COVID jab on Tuesday so I’m hoping I won’t have any side effects.I had a result from my train ticket claim. I got just short of £50 back for the hour delay…..so 50% back. Made it a cheap trip to see Dd and gks. It’s dds birthday today. Not sure how she got to be 43 😳
I had to nip to a cash machine on Friday whilst we were away….just to check my first lot of pension went in….it did and. I was very excited 😂😂 Ive waited 6 long years longer than I ever expected for it 🤬🤬🤬January spends - £587.584 -
Also flu & COVID Tuesday!

Hope you get Millie's damp sorted out before the warranty runs out.
Got my flu jab booked in for Friday lunchtime at a Tesco pharmacy near work. Fingers crossed for no symptoms!0 -
Had my flu and covid yesterday. I’ve had the sore throat from hell today. I think it could well have been brewing anyway as my throat has been dry for a couple of days. Had a funny wheeze in my chest too. I’ve been inhaling steam which seems to have helped.
I enjoyed my time volunteering in school last Thursday…..then yesterday out of the blue I had a phone call asking me not to go in. There was some story about supply teachers and staff being off so I messaged the teacher (a friend) to see if she was ok - she didn’t have a clue what I was on about. She wasn’t off work and had said how well it had worked when I went in last week. Not sure what’s going on…..but it’s probably as well as I don’t feel the best.
OMG I’ve gone a bit mad and ordered a joint Christmas present for my Dd and sil 😂😂😂😂 it has arrived today and it’s massive…..not sure where we’re going to store it or how we’re going to get it too them. It was a bargain as it is end of summer stock for the garden. Didn’t think that one through…..and they’re coming here in a couple of weeks so it can’t stay in the spare room 😱😱😱 We have to step over it in the hall atm - it’s so heavy I can’t shift it. The packaging looks a bit battered too 🤬 I can picture Dh face when he sees it 😱😱😱😱😂😂😂😂 I’m sure they’ll love it but I really didn’t think the practicalities out. At the mo….i think I’ll have to take a photo of it then wrap the picture of it to take at Christmas then we’ll have to take it down after Christmas in Millie Motorhome…..if we can get it in. They’ll be too many other things in the car to take it at Christmas unless one of us runs behind the car and it’s something they’ll use in the summer months.
ive bought a new notebook with dividers so I can start logging my spends again and a food diary. I bought a 12 week countdown at SW this morning - I’ll give myself until the end of this…..which is Christmas and I am calling it a day after that if I don’t have any joy. Yes I know I’ve said this many times before but I mean it this time. I won a bag of food this morning for getting slimmer of the week. I’d only lost 1 lb so it shows how bad we are as a group. There are about 6 ladies that stay to the early group and to be honest we use it more as a social club 😂January spends - £587.584 -
Let’s be honest a lot of people use SW as a social club!I am a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Mortgage Free Wannabe & Local Money Saving Scotland & Disability Money Matters. I’d big ideas yesterday of organising my new note book and start recording things but my get up and go got up and gone. My throat is still sore but my arm less so. The wheeze has progressed into a tickly cough…..hopefully it’ll sort itself out before tomorrow as I want to go to the singing group….I’ll have to mime 😂😂 I won’t go if I feel grotty as I don’t want to share.I’ve been on a mission to eat from the freezer over the last few weeks and it doesn’t seem to get any emptier. I’m hoping to create some room in case there are some good bargains for Christmas.I’m trying to watch last nights Corrie but t’internet is playing up…..and it keeps buffering. It’s been terrible lately.
No big plans for today. We’ve got leftover cous cous with chicken and Mediterranean veg for tea and dinner will be home made chicken soup. I’m on a mission to try to loose 1lb a week until Christmas…….watch this space 🤞🤞🤞I’m not planning on wasting the countdown I’ve bought.January spends - £587.584
