Hmm, I got account details straight after the application was finished and it said on screen account is open. Took a photo of it with my phone. The passcode is one you have to set when you register for online banking.Rawrzy said:pecunianonolet said:
I applied on the website on Thursday evening. Tried to register for online banking straight away but didn't work. Asked in online chat on Friday and was told it can take up to 5 working days, but sometimes goes quicker and that I should just keep trying. This morning I received an email with the customer number so tried again and was able to register for online banking and set all my passwords, pins, etc. Next, registered the app with the new details and all accounts (Flex Direct & Flex Instant Saver) showed up.Rawrzy said:
Did you only need the customer number to register? I applied for the bank account online and got the customer number already but nothing else. I thought applying online meant you didnt need to register since you had to put in a password in the application but if I log in they want me to phone to add my mobile number which also feels odd because they clearly have it as they sent me a text about my switch lol.pecunianonolet said:
Yes, it was with I think 50 pre printed cheques. Ulster got switched away by now so no longer relevant.pokemaster said:Are you sure it was Cheque Book? As Ulster sent me a paying in book
Just got my customer number and was able to register for online banking and app. They say they have some sort of maintenance until Sunday 3rd September 8am. "Sorry, we're unable to show you all your account info at the moment or process outbound payments"
Was able to open the regular saver straight away and got the welcome email instantly. Set up a new payee with my main bank and sent £1 test payment and showed up instantly. Applied for an overdraft at account opening (up to £1500 interest free overdraft for 12 month) and was able to make an internal transfer into the reg saver using the overdraft and that worked and the £200 showed up straight away with the date of today.
Setting up a payee with Nationwide didn't work in the app, was told need to log in to online banking but didn't bother for now. Guess I have to wait for the card reader to arrive.
My switch completion date I set as far as possible into the future (19th October) to allow enough time for all the changed DD to become active so I get the £200 switch bonus.
Hmm, mine seems a bit different. I just checked and now it's updated to say it wants a passnumber to log in. Same for the app. Googling it seems like that's sent via mail? So guess I'll have to wait till next week to get in. The register again pages wants a bunch of account details I don't have yet either, so can't really use that to speed up the process.
That'll be the difference then, my account didn't get opened instantly for some reason. An email came through a bit after saying it was open instead, so I didn't get the opportunity to see the account details, or set a passcode.

I have opened a second Chase current account within the app to use for this NW switch. It has a different account number to my main Chase account, however I can choose to spend with it using my existing debit card / debit card number. Will my main Chase account be closed if I input the debit card number on the NW online switch form? TIA

There's a recent thread on this subject, the answer is "probably not".WLewer98 said:I have opened a second Chase current account within the app to use for this NW switch. Can I open a joint account with nationwide and receive this bonus? You checked the T&C, didn't you?If the account you’re switching to is a joint account, these terms and conditions apply to both account holders. This is at the very top, impossible to miss. However, it's been repeated many times here - get some special account(s) for switching bonuses. Don't use your main account for this. You can open two extra sole accounts with the same Lloyds and, possibly, even switch them back to Lloyds later if their £175 bonus is still available.0

Thanks for the reply. Not an issue for us currently as we are living with in laws, so no account set in stone.0

The point is that if you switch two individual accounts you get double the bonus!Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Unfortunately the only account we have we any DD's on is a joint account, so will have to be opened jointly. Another comment which has now been deleted this applies to that as well, i did do a switch to Natwest recently, but as the Nationwide offer includes the fact you need a minimum 2 DD's, the Natwest account is useless as i have no DD's on it.Katiehound said:The point is that if you switch two individual accounts you get double the bonus!0 -
my thought is that you 'groom' that Natwest account so that in future you have an account ready and waiting to go. In fact one each. very often switch deals do require 2 x DDs.
Below is a list of charities which will accept £2 or £3 monthly - there are probably more
Make sure all the household ones are 12 per year for example council tax seems to have a 10 month default but they must offer 12.
I split my utilities between various accounts that require DDs for interest/ reward
I also have a couple of extra CCs and try to remember to put a small spend on each monthly
charities that DID* accept £2 pm DDs are:
Water Aid
Christian Aid
RSPCA
AgeUK
The Trussell Trust
British Red Cross
RNLI
*(they may have increased the minimum now- the list was valid in May this year)
Dogs Trust- minimum £4
and if you pay tax please remember to add Gift Aid
Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

Just set some direct debits up then. You could either move a couple of existing ones across or set up new ones, for example one.linked to a PayPal account, or a monthly.lottery one for a few pounds.
