Can I use a second Chase account for a bank switch?

On the Chase app you have the option of opening additional accounts, as they seem to be covered under the CASS can I use a "burner" from that to start a new account elsewhere?  Sorry if this seems like a very basic question.

I'm just worried it'll close my main Chase account or impact my Cash-back / Savings / Round-up with them

I imagine as they've only just signed up to the switching process in the last couple of days - nobody will have tried it yet, or seen the outcome of doing so.

Oh I didn't realise it was so recent.  Just attempting to get a burner and figured it would be an easy one, but I'm very risk averse so maybe not for me to fire the fire try!

We shall see in due course, but the way things have been operating the additional accounts have been virtual. This is why you only needed one debit card and could choose which account is debited when you use your card. I suspect when you are asked for the debit card details in the CASS application form, the whole lot will get merged and shifted, and you would need to start over by reapplying for a primary current account if you wanted to continue with Chase.

If I was doing that, I'd use the 'I don't have a debit card' option.

At which point Chase are quite within their rights to block the switch (as Tesco did to me several years ago when I couldn't be bothered finding the card number as it was buried away in a drawer).

I'm sure someone will try it soon enough and report back though as to what happens if a second account details are used for a switch.
  • At the risk of losing their Chase access entirely, Chase not allowing people to rejoin.
  • I'm in the process of switching from Chase using the switching service. I got an email from Chase saying my relationship with them will end as I only have the one account and they can't welcome me back. However the email did say I can open another 'paying' account with them if I want to keep a relationship with them.
I got the email because I am switching so it must be possible to have multiple Chase current accounts and switch from one of them only.
I am going to do this but hope it doesn't affect the bonus I should get from the bank I am switching to.
