Just out of curiosity which 2 DDs did you setup and how often will they take money from your bank account?James240 said:Currently set up my 2x direct debits on my Chase account today so will wait for them to show and then start to initiate the switch to Nationwide

I had an account since 2018 but switched away a couple of months ago. So is it when you last took advantage, so I just need an account to switch into it?PRAISETHESUN said:
You are allowed to switch into any current account (new or existing) as long as you haven't taken advantage of the incentive before. You can find the option to initiate the switch in your online banking if you don't do it during the account opening process.worriednoob said:
Thanks dealyboy. I've looked at Andy's excellent video. I've also just posted on the main DD thread and hopefully someone will be able to advise. One thing I'm confused about Nationwide - As a totally new customer, am I okay to go ahead and open their Flexdirect account without actually doing the switch and will I still get the switch incentive if I switch at a later date? If so, what is the latest date?dealyboy said:
I know our fellow Forumites have written quite extensively about DDs, hopefully they can help, I've not set up donor DDs myself.@worriednoob said:
Thanks so much @dealyboy To be honest, this sounds too good to be true. Luckily on top of the sole RBS accounts, we also have a joint virgin money current account which we hardly use, but it doesn't have any active DDs. I was thinking of using Plum/Moneybox, but these are already setup in our individual names and a DD for these is about to come out of the RBS accounts.dealyboy said:

Well try following the guides on here and going through the setting up of your current accounts as well as Plum/Moneybox and if you get stuck, just ask on here and I'm sure someone will guide you. Don't forget to thank them@stevey83 said:
Thanks for this info, i will definitely look into setting up the DD's! As i said this account swapping is new to me, quite happy to be getting free money!worriednoob said:
As others have already said, you just need to create a burner account each (Examples are Chaser or Monzo which don't do any credit checks) and for DD's use Plum and Moneybox apps to setup savings accounts. It literally take 10 -15 mins of your time. Once done, go through each app and setup a DD to pay £2 per week from your burner account into your Plum and Moneybox accounts. Make sure you have some money in your burner account for the DD to be taken out, otherwise it will be declined or you may go overdrawn.stevey83 said:Im a bit new to this, but currently in an odd situation. My wife and I sold our house in march, currently living with my in laws, so no bills going out apart from our mobile DD’s.In future I will have these new bank accounts available to do switching, but as of now, it would be pointless setting up DD’s, in the hope of new account switches.
Just watched the new video from Andy of BeCleverWithYourCash. He is pointing out that a couple can do three switches to Nationwide if neither individually have had the incentive since August 2021 and also have not been part of a joint account that has received the incentive.
So that's two single account switches and one joint account switch, either opening new accounts or switching in to pre-existing accounts, of course the T&Cs apply to each switch independently ... £600 kerching!
So if we can't use Plum/Moneybox again, how do I setup quick/weekly DDs for the Virgin account?
Currently they haven't advertised an end date for the offer, but it was around for a few months last time so I doubt there's any imminent threat of it ending soon.0 -

Sorry if this has already been asked, do the DD's need to be active, i.e. they've taken a payment, or do you just need 2 DDs on the account. I've got a Monzo account I can transfer but the 2 DD's are listed on the account but they've not taken any money yet.
Thanks,1 -
Not a joint account holder but my understanding of how it works is as follows:pfpf said:could someone who has done this say if i am correct.
opening a Joint account: a sole account in one of our names can be used to switch in to a joint account on application?
i can open the JA while logged in to my sole account? is the new JA then visible on each of our existing sole logins?
thank you.
1) yes - you can switch a sole account into a joint account, as long as the name matches one of the joint account holders.
2) unsure - I would assume so
3) That's my understanding of how it should work. Each account holder has their own login credentials and the joint account should be visible to both of you on your respective profiles.1 -
Make sure you have more than one Chase account. If you close your one and only Chase account you won't be able to open another one with them, but if you have 2 or more first then you're fine:James240 said:Currently set up my 2x direct debits on my Chase account today so will wait for them to show and then start to initiate the switch to Nationwide

The terms of the current offer are clear - as long as you haven't taken advantage of the switch incentive since 18 August 2021 then you are eligible. This can be an existing account, or a new one you apply for. You will also need 2x DDs on the donor account you are switching to Nationwidenic_c said:

As long as they appear on your online banking on the donor account you *should* be okay, but I always recommend they pay out first to be safe.itsmattuk said:Sorry if this has already been asked, do the DD's need to be active, i.e. they've taken a payment, or do you just need 2 DDs on the account. If anyone benefited from the bonus in October/Nov 2021 but still manages to bag this one, please let us know!

Have you already opened a Nationwide current account or are you first waiting for the DDs to pay out?MikeJXE said:
