  • Thanks @pfpf and @Rawrzy

Other than an email stating 'We're doing a few more checks' I've not received any follow up email as yet, so unsure what is happening.

My ID was accepted immediately during the application, so I doubt that's the issue.   I think it's because I've opened a lot of bank accounts which have required a hard-check.  I got to say that unlike other banks, Nationwide seems to be a pain in the backside to open.  Oh well, I'll just have to wait and see and will keep you posted.  Please let me know if you also have any updates on your applications.

    Thanks

I mean I think it's just random whether a bank stops you since they've all got different criteria. In my experience Nationwide was a far better experience than most, the only ones better were the digital banks like Chase/Monzo/Starling etc. Nationwide check Experian, for what it's worth, so only hard checks on that matter. Natwest Group for example use Equifax instead for current accounts, so they shouldn't affect each other.
  • I'm wanting to make this switch and would like to use one of the extra Chase current accounts that you are assigned/can create, is this possible? If so do you need to make the account you are switching the one the card is linked to for spending or can you just switch away any of the random accounts they give you?  (I was given like 6 accounts when i opened with them?!)  I appreciate this is a Chase question more than a Nationwide but there will be many switchers in here who might have used Chase to switch themselves...
  • Hi,
Just been reading this thread. I applied for account on 24th. Sept. Because I am not great at filling forms in on smart phone, I did it on my PC. However because I do not have a camera set up, I received a messgae to say I would have to go to branch to check indetification. However, by the 27/28 Sept I was told account open & I have got card & pin No. I cannot yet register on app, as have to wait 6 working days. Does this mean I will NOT have go to branch?

I’ve switched with additional Chase accounts three times. You just need to give the card number but it doesn’t effect the card and can still use it for the main Chase account afterwards. Just make sure you have active direct debits attached to the account you are switching.

You can also just not give the card number too. It doesn't seem to matter either way for a secondary account switch.

Thanks. So you just need to give the debit card details but the debit card doesn't need to be linked to the account you are switching?  As with Chase obviously they want you to assign the card to just the one "spending " account.

You can leave it attached to your main account, it doesn't seem to matter.

As an existing customer I started the process when the offer was launched choosing the earliest switch date of September 29th. Had a text earlier today saying I was eligible for the bonus which would be paid within 10 days. Pleasantly surprised after logging in just now to find £200 Switching Offer has been paid today

Currently set up my 2x direct debits on my Chase account today so will wait for them to show and then start to initiate the switch to Nationwide

Just out of curiosity which 2 DDs did you setup and how often will they take money from your bank account?
Same situation here with Metro waiting for 2 DD to activate

PDSA and Water Aid £2 each per month
Have you already opened a Nationwide current account or are you first waiting for the DDs to pay out?
I have a nationwide account and waiting for the direct debits to become active

    That saves any argument
