Never mind being a turtle, this morning I look like a frog. My hay fever is horrendous and the loratadine, cetirizine, fexofenadine, whateverine are no match for this! Spent a small fortune on pills, nasal sprays and eye drops this week.Missed checking in the last couple of days as I’ve been very busy at work and very tired from it. First big event in series of events I’ve been working on went well on Thursday. Spent £6 on a bowl of chips and a fizzy drink that I didn’t really want, but feared I’d be working for the next 6 hours without food. Glad to have shoved those chips down because I didn’t get home until 11pm by which time I’d have been ravenous having not eaten since lunchtime!Friday I took DS to school and popped my head in to ask if paired-reading was happening (thought they might be winding down for summer break). Receptionist took one look at my puffed up red eyes and pale tired face, and suggested I head home for a rest. 🤣 So that’s what I did… sort of…logged on to my work laptop to do some prep for Monday as event continues the whole of next week too.Saturday / todayCurrently OH and DS are away to football class. I am still in bed with a cup of tea, catching up on turtle updates and blowing my nose every 4.8 seconds. I did get out of bed at 7am to bring in the Saneberries grocery delivery… for some random reason we were given 2 complimentary cans of Peepsi. Not complaining because I like the drink and they were free. As I say, random but I’ll take it! 🙂Grateful for a long lie, for tea and toast in bed, and for free time to catch up with turtles’ updates, and for finding out what ‘wading bird’ is even though I’ve never heard of the shop (not something we have down here in Glasgow as far as I’m aware). 🤣

I wish you clear air and a soothed nose soon ldee, my hayfever was miserable this week. Was a welcome reminder from @grandmanerd that it also affects ones mood and resilience - as I have felt strung out in that regard too. Touch wood, it's not too bad today and I did get a bit of sleep yesterday.
Today's wins:
Am not travelling to a party tonight - will lose my share of the Airbnb costs but will save on fuel and spends. Just too much happening and not enough in the energy tank to make it likely to be fun, despite lovely people.
Have still got my nails done (and earlier in the week, hair and eyebrows). Needed for a work conference on Monday but a very welcome pick me up and reminder of professional me. Tried a salon close to mum and dad's and found hairdresser has relocated from the big city big name salon I used to go to, so comparable cut and experience, but much much cheaper. Also went for an all over colour which was cheaper than the usual foils.Today went back for nails and was 20% off as a new member of staff intro offer. She tried so hard to make conversation but I was so weary, bless her, I just wanted peace and quiet and in the end said so (in a much nicer way!). Managed to park for free and combine journey with shopping trip.
gym today - classes included in membership. Really nice group of people, definitely feel I am making acquaintances in the area now. Did the class despite feeling like I wasn't sure if I could, am glad I went.
Picked up a couple of things as part of a 2 part survey at local grocery store, had to answer questions about store layout and upload photos. £5 is somewhere in a profile of mine now - need to get on top of those a bit.
olio pick up - not too overwhelming luckily..Have found a back up person to take anything not collected. This time about a dozen cinnamon swirls - am going to try to make a bread pudding with them....
did shopping for a relative whose DD and main carer is my BF, and who (BF) has just broken her leg. As a family it's a busy weekend this weekend so we will take stock of how we will get through the next few weeks together on Sunday. Logistics increasingly complicated! Was nice to have some time with older relative anyway - and care home offered me a ice cream while they had their lunch so that was tasty.
Inspired by @savingholmes pre-move declutter I took another bag to the charity shop first thing. Am about to go and potter about tidying my room at mum and dad's now. Everything gets dumped there and it was so good for my mh to have it tidy at the start of last week!

The hayfever and alergy relief pills I take do contain Cetirizine and do help . Youngest daughters have a different ingredient and don't work for me and mine don't for her.Something we began to notice when the pandemic came along was proper medical grade facemasks seemed to miinmise the hayfever. The pharmacy had just taken delivery of medical grade facemasks for their staff.Daughter is ECV and they've been dispensing her meds since she was a child the phamacist said they weren't yet on sale to the public they were for staff but being aware how ill my dd was and looking at the 19 monthly repeat meds said i I wanted she could sell me a box at a reduced price than the ones to go on the shop shelves would be.I bought a box of 50It was the first day of the rules and on my way out I realised I'd forgotten to buy masks.Istopped of at the nearby chemists and was charged a lot for a couple of what proved to be totally useless masks. They had thin elastic ties and wouldn;t fit closely but i had to wear one to pick up dds meds. The ones from Boots were perfect soft ear loops rather than elastic or ties with a clip to secure them over the nose they didn't move at all when wearing .I stccked uo on boxes when they went on sale then again when boots had big reductions when masks were no longer mandatory.Going out I still wear a mask and haven't had flu, covid or anything else. We're in a tourist area and were in level 4 a few times as town was packed and people were coughing left right and centreNot only have I avoided covid but also the bronchitis iused to get in winter and flu. i also found the hayfever wasn't as bad. A lot of people in this area are stil wearing masks including shop assistants many of whom are ECV themselves. My dd never got the virus though although she'd had her flu jabs picked up flu from a visiter who turned up one Christmas without warning.if you don't already do it wearing sunglasses in Hayfever season helps as rubbing itchy eyes spreads pollen,i hope you feel better soonpollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.

Yesterday I cut my hair. I had it cut at the end of May as I was going out with DS2, darling daughter outlaw and my grand-daughter and it was still okay for the Baptism on the 30th April. All through May and so far into June it's been getting less okay but the hairdresser's is in an awkward place (if I got a taxi, all the places I could ask to be dropped are a couple of blocks away) and because I've been getting out about once a week, it felt to trivial to waste it on getting my hair cut. So I won't win any prizes for style but it's comfortable, a lot cooler and I don't have any bald patches
This morning I was out early trying to do something about the 'devil trees'. I made it up 3 steps of the step ladder (in a corner so I also had walls to hold onto) but didn't get very far (ankle is stronger but soon started aching and I felt wobbly). Bins brought back, loads of stuff to go out (12 bags and sacks) and various other jobs. WM has been on and I've cooked a couple of things. More to do but DS3 nudged me as I was falling asleep on the couch, so I'm back upstairs for now. I have also had a bath because I really really wanted one. Told DS3 and said I had no idea how I was going to get out. After about six attempts I had to shout for him. We made it after I shuffled towards the taps, he put the bath board behind me and then when I pushed upwards, he shoved the board forward so I was sitting on it. But worth it, sometimes only a bath will do (I've been wiping myself over with cold wet cloths several times a day for the past few days).
I've made a lot of progress on my room. I didn't feel up to moving the bed but stood at the corner/ foot of the bed and pulled a lot of stuff up until I couldn't stand up any longer.
Grateful for my bed, my ankle getting stronger, baths.8 -
We had a lovely thunder storm last night but it didn't really cool things down much. I was really suffering this morning as was the girl next door who is pregnant. Poor wee soul. It was like this when I was expecting the Boy and it was so tiring.
I've just sent Himself upstairs for a nap. He's struggling with our situation but won't admit it. I'm trying to get him to see that this is taking its toll on him as well as me but he's trying to be really brave and support me all he can. He's not good with illness or any unpleasant situation.
But I'm grateful for a day off today. Take each day at a time. xxxHave adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.9 -
Today I am grateful for a relaxing day, for finding some fab things in charity shops ( dress for the funeral, fab boots, tee and shorts for dc, lots of small containers for penguins on ice floes, a 24 hour tick tock clock for a friend), for still doing some marking, for a nice chat with big sis, for a much cooler day.

Thanks @pollyanna_26. It hadn’t occurred to me to try wearing a mask! Going to give that a go.@Toni'sfriend my OH was the same. The worrying and wondering ‘what if’ is completely exhausting. OH tells me he distracted himself from anxious thoughts ‘for maybe 5% of my day by watching a box set’. XxNST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸8

Sending hugs to all the hayfever sufferers, those under the weather, @Toni'sfriend & @apple_muncher.
A whirlwind 2 days have passed since I last posted. Friday at work was good, apart from half an hour at lunchtime. Rushed to town to get shopping (managed to get some sweet peas to plant for DH as a surprise when he comes home, as he's not grown any this year), got a chippy tea, then packed a bag for me & another to take to DH.
Collected my friend, then we settled into our cabin on the boat. Stayed up till 1.30 chatting, then I woke up at 6am. Left the boat just before 8 & looked round a couple of shops, then I caught the bus to the hospital. DH was very pleased to see me, & I him. He did look quite ill, as has lost lots of weight, but I was there when the Dr was doing his rounds, & he said DH was improving, which was great to hear! Left the hospital by a different door, then had to ask for directions to get back to the main entrance 🤣 Eventually found it & caught a bus back into the city centre. Met my friend again, went for lunch at an all you can eat buffet place. I'd never been before, but it was good. So full afterwards! A bit more shopping, then got back on the boat at 4.30.
We sat on the top deck to start with, it was roasting hot all day, & good to see the scenery as we pulled out if the harbour. Unfortunately I missed seeing the dolphins/porpoises swimming in the wake of the boat. Went inside once the wind picked up, sat chatting with a couple with a young baby beside us, then we went to watch the onboard film. I slept through the first hour of it, then it got a bit choppy & I felt quite queasy, but managed to keep it contained, then at 10.15 I ended up being sick 😭. Thankfully the boat arrived at 11, so we could get off & back on to solid ground. DS1 was waiting by the car for a lift home, dropped friend off & headed home.
Grateful for seeing DH, hearing that he's improving slightly, good friends & solid groundUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
