Anyone got any ideas of flowers that are similar to hibiscus...?
NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!7 -
Wednesday - NSD, most of the day taken up with visits to oncology for mum. A 2 hr drive felt a long way to me until hearing of Thriftys DH's hospital commute. I hope the sailing goes smoothly for you. Yay to BF BF sorting a cabin! Our appt a bit of a (welcome) anticlimax after bracing ourselves for worse news, we just carry on carrying on it seems. Had lunch at a pub near hospital to celebrate, mum bought mine, a lovely salad bowl but I was exhausted and hayfever a bit much so was glad to head home. A planned time with my cousin's on the beach in the evening was also cut short by the hayfever, I found breathing really hard by the time I got home, glands were up and head pounding. Glad to have got a quick dip in anyway. COVID negative! Showered, washed hair, changed bedclothes etc - all the allergy tricks. Was in bed about 8, felt rough all night, but functioned ok today.
Today almost a NSD. Got my haircut but only cost £2 because had previously paid a deposit for a more expensive cut and colour than I ended up having, and this was the remainder. Plus £2.50 in parking - needed because it was a bit crammed in to a slightly longer lunch break, but very glad to get it done and preserve a day off. Looks good and feels a lot lighter for the summer. The cold hair dye, and the head massage during the shampoo, and the gentle pulling of bits of hair during the cut actually helped shift my headache! Work went well today. Fitted in a pharmacy and a GP trip too, to try to sort medication out.
Solicitors wanted another bit of paper printed, signed and scanned, Estate agents were happy to print. My gym class was cancelled at tea time so made it to the EAs with seconds to spare, and picked the copies up. All filled in ready to photograph and post off tomorrow am. Vendor also reached out for a few details about the conditions of sale we added - so they can do the work to our specification. I popped in for a look while passing tonight and they are doing something to the floor in the flat - so I guess flooring will be down soon. 🤞
Mum has researched white goods and updated costs as a new wh?ch reviews out.. I estimate it will be around £1200 to fit the flat out with new white goods which I am keen to do because of warranty, holiday let etc. We don't need to buy much else in the way of furniture and fittings, the only other big expense I anyicipate is the blinds/window covers of some sort, yet TBC.
Can't sleep as mum wasn't keen on going to bed, but it isn't really safe to be up without compression bandages on, which I washed when she was off to bed 4 hours ago. Have been setting my alarm every 40 min to pop in and remind her about actually going to bed. Finally got the bandages dry enough to put on again so I am doing that and then clocking off for the night! Should be a NSD tomorrow I hope..

thanks @f0xh0les for clearing that up 😂 I’ve never heard of it, maybe they don’t exist down south or I’ve just been away too long… ?!
amazing that you get to go see your DH @Thrifty_Taylor - and it sounds like such a lovely community you have there.
I am still counting yest as an NSD (7?) as although BF bought chocolate without telling me, I am €20 up by taking a hat that didn’t fit me back to the shop. A kids’ hat was still too large for my pin head 😂 had a little look in pr1marn1 but all the hats in the adult section were too big and I couldn’t face trying to find the kids’ section, absolute hell on earth.I have to get up super early tomorrow as I’m flying to London for an engagement party. Will try to control my drinking but the peer pressure will be strong!! Have to see my sister for her birthday and dad for Father’s Day on Sun so want to be compos mentis…
enjoy your weekend turtles! Sending loveStudent loan £5655

Small wins to celebrate this week
* Completed digging on the side of the yard I've been working on, weedproof membrane down and old one pulled out of the way. Just need to extricate the final panel (wide plastic shelves) from the other side of the garden (stuck under 2 x 50 l pots) and put that in place, then can shuffle my fruit trees into their permanent places.
* Ankle injury is improving slowly - managed several trips from the front room to the kitchen, carrying things, in one afternoon
* Showered, ate something, drank lots of water most days
* Many sacks of rubbish/ recycling have gone out
* They had a big clear out in their room (the bags of detritus only made it as far as the kitchen
* Holding back the chaos - some slight improvements and lots of holding it in place/ not letting it get worse
* Renewed 2 missing library books so I have time to continue the hunt
* Two sides of the floor around the bed are clear and I'm ready to move the bed and do the far side
* Got the tall anglepoise working again
* Persuaded a delivery man to take some decking boards round the back
* Surviving the weather (melting and slick as a seal but still doing a bit each day)
* Keep reminding myself that feeling sad and tearful is a side effect of the hayfever, not something more serious
* Some rain - not enough, it was dry everywhere the next day but a little collected in buckets (didn't get to lay them out everywhere)
* Found the apples, small citrus and beetroot
* Unpacked most of the shopping and put it safely away6 -

Taking Your day Apart and Putting it back Together Again
One easy part of your daily routine
One important part of your daily routine
One part of your daily routine that you enjoy
One difficult part of your daily routine
One unimportant part of your daily routine
One part of your daily routine that you don't enjoy
One thing that makes the easy part of your day, easy
One thing that makes the important part of your day, important

Today I am grateful for getting to the gym and to liddle, for the non-working traffic lights not causing any hold-ups, for getting more marking done and the end being in sight, for a very old friend of mum's (out in Sudan) sending a prayer to read at her funeral next week, for books and shade and good coffee.
