Selective quoteing is, quoting out of context, That will cause so many argumeants!
This is going to make it so dificult to have discusions.

Thanks Umkomaas - it certainly wasn't obvious to me!!
And is there still a save draft function? That seems to work and then not work at random some weeks.

Being in developmeant is not a good 'feature', You don't roll out bugy, unfinished products out on the public!
It needs rolling back! The problems of the old editor suddenly look very minor.

You can copy the required paragraph from the original post you want to quote, then paste it into your reply box, click the quote icon alongside it for it to appear in a quote box, below which you can type in your own comments.
@Umkomaas
If I just copy and paste part of a quote though, it doesn't reference to the forumite's name. How do I do this without just typing the name myself (as above).

That's the rub. I'm certainly no expert in any of this, I just fidget around trying things out. A few work, most don't. I haven't found a work-around for automatically adding the poster's username, but I don't underestimate the inventiveness of forum members to come up with a solution (fingers crossed!).
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

This is all just so wrong, it now looks like what I posted was my quote, when it was from yours. As someone else has said earlier, I can see this is going to cause some heated discussions if out of context.

That is a very good point, it doesn't!

I can make it do what I wanted it to do but it's a little fiddly - actually I can't, what I see initially when I save isn't what I see when the thread refreshes 🤷🏻♀️
