It would appear that you quoting me has sent me a notification that I have been "mentioned".
That's new too?? Might be handy mind.
Have you been notified that I've quoted
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0 -
You can copy the required paragraph from the original post you want to quote, then paste it into your reply box, click the quote icon alongside it for it to appear in a quote box, below which you can type in your own comments.

@Umkomaas - just followed your instructions. What "quote icon"?

Sure, if you copied and pasted it from my original post. Hard to tell, because just pressing the 'Quote' button at the foot of my original post would have produced the same result as my entire post was short. It's a more suitable option with longer posts where you want to reply to one paragraph only, not have the entire post appearing and partially 'hiding' below in a quote box with a down arrow.
Hope that makes sense?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

I've tried to edit a post and it's not working. Where have I gone wrong? Thanks Humdinger

So you can no longer quote just part of a post by quoting the post and deleting the parts that are not required?
You have to highlight that part (or parts) of the post that you want to keep, and then cut and paste them?
Seems a waste of time.
The changes on this forum always seem to bring about unwanted consequences…

And only if you can find the quote button

This update is horrible.
Even little things like when you start to type a reply, the new system can't br bothered to automatically give you a capital letter to start your sentence.
It's displaying like text-speak, only worse. Copying and pasting someone's words so it displays looking like code, looks really basic.
Changing internal post quotes to URLs is also unhelpful. because you've no idea who the person is replying to … on a long thread that's unworkable.
We have no time on the parking board for this. We need to be able to quote parts of posts easily, and to edit & highlight the exact thing we are replying to.
