The Forum is getting a new text editor

Hi @Coupon-mad
I'll do my best to help with any issues, but for a couple of those issues.
We cannot even see how to post a reply that includes a link taking someone directly (specifically) to the second post of the NEWBIES PARKING TICKET FAQS sticky.
Is the issue that the forum now changes internal links into quotes?
A solution to this may be to type some text then highlight it and select the link icon -
ClickySometimes today, quoting someone or copy/pasting from an older reply looks like the 'code' option.
Quoting a post that was made by our old editor might look slightly different than quoting a new post. This is unavoidable as it would be very disruptive to change all old posts to the new version.
And as you are typing a reply, the auto correct that underlines a typo in red and suggests correct spellings is no longer working as you type.
As proof that our new editor is under constant development, this issue was reported recently and a fix is due this week!Join the MSE Forum

HI @cathybird
Sorry for the confusion!
I meant that we could not add our own specially created emojis to the emoji picker.
You should actually find a huge amount of new emojis (all the ones that are standard in most text editors these days) in the new text editor. Please see the opening post of this thread.
Regarding HTML. I'm afraid that might no longer be available - I'm checking.
Could you see if there are any alternative ways to display your challenges?

I think you can actually.
I originally thought you couldn't bold or italic, but I've just done it and the options pop up as you select or highlight the text you want to do
I don't think it's an improvement…

I note at least three people (including myself) have asked how to bold and italic as it isn't obvious.
If you highlight the text you want to bold or italic the options appear.
Pity none of it is immediately obvious…

Just trying out on my phone...
No, I can't embolden text in a quote...the quote box just flashes.
☹️

For me, readability has worsened
You used to be able to scroll down and scan quotes and replies, but now the quotes are hidden by a drop-down arrow so you no longer can easily read and follow the full story.
A big step
Edit: the final word is backwards but it refused to display
Second edit: the word after display is 'it' but that is also not displayed
Third edit: thee is a space in the middle of wordafter but that is not being displayed

Okay, glad I'm not going mad. Hopefully this can be fixed!

Thanks for that, I'll keep an eye on it. When might we be able to edit quotes? It makes absolutely no sense to quote the whole of a post and make a comment on some part that cannot be seen on screen!

So, with the new text editor, is it possible to use bullets or numbered list?
Also, is it possible to delete part of a quoted post?
For example, in the post below, I would often delete the previous quoted post (to avoid the post getting too large):
It is also now, I can only read as far down as "just trying out on my phone".
What about if I wanted to delete part of the long post, so someone might have deleted all apart from "I can't embolden text in a quote" to then give the specific answer to that specific point.

You can copy the required paragraph from the original post you want to quote, then paste it into your reply box, click the quote icon alongside it for it to appear in a quote box, below which you can type in your own comments.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
