Dreadful. The worst part of the existing editor is the quoting, and the new version just makes it worse
Why can't we select text to quote just like every other forum in the world?

Hoorah for Alt text!!! I think there needs to be a site-wide announcement about it, explaining what it is and why it's important because too many people don't know or understand the need - accessibility features are not much help if people don't bother to use them.
The new quote function looks horrendous if you can't bold bits of what you're quoting or delete bits of the original post that aren't relevant to the reply. Surely there must be a way of solving the cursor-getting-stuck problem without making quotes extremely difficult to actually use.
Otherwise, looks good!5 -
Really glad to hear this news! I often find myself ‘stuck’ within the quotations so particularly please to see that bug will be addressed."If you aren’t willing to own a stock for ten years, don’t even think about owning it for ten minutes” Warren Buffett

EssexHebridean said:Lovely - but more importantly still, can we have the blue haired shrieking emoji back?! And the fainting "thud" one?!
Unfortunately, custom emojis are not currently supported - but I may have heard about it being a future possibility.Join the MSE Forum

@MSE_Stephen with regards to:
"There won't be the ability to change text colour or size (apart from adding headings, bold etc.), and this is unlikely to be added as these can make text less legible. Accessibility is considered a very high priority which is why these abilities are not being considered by our provider"
As a developer myself, the W3C HTML standard and best practices state that changing text colours and sizes is a basic requirement in those documents - otherwise, your users will encounter problems with readability, especially if they have medical conditions that affect their vision.2 -

It's preventing the writer making problem changes.The need for users with readability issues to change colours or text size is a need for the reader, not the writer, to make changes. That's surely something different.2 -
The only thing that drives me nuts with the current forum is when hitting a link it doesn't open a new tab or window but uses the current window. Other forums do this automatically.2

Sorry if this question should go on general Tech thread but, years ago (before the last couple of updates) I used to be able to click on the quote button on different pages and whatever number of quotes I clicked on appeared in the text box, so I could reply to more than one post in my post. However, since the last couple of updates, if I'm on, say page 1 of a thread, and click on a post, then go to page 2 of the thread, the quote I'd clicked on from page 1 has disappeared. I know there must be a way round this as I see others doing this. How do I do this, please?
I use a PC not phone, don't know if that makes a difference.2 -
Is it just me or does hitting the return/enter key to go to the next lineresult in a space as if you'vehit in twice?4
