The Forum is getting a new text editor

I cant even get a link to post now, it looks ok in 'edit post' but in the post its plain text, deleting and pasting again, will not fix it, refreshing the page and still plain text.
And the photo i posted is resized and unreadable.

Absolutely terrible now - an inserted link appears in the wrong place and editing just causes more issues including the page just closing - this is Chrome.
The only thing that worked was selecting 'insert as text' when the link actually appears as a clickable link as before and in the correct place in the text.
The in-browser spell check doesnt seem to work - unless there's one built into this new editor that needs enabling.

I am also finding that everytime someone quotes you, that creates a notification that you have been "mentioned" whereas before that really required yoru user name to have been inputted to qualify as "mentioned". I am receiving too many notifications.

hi Stephen, thanks but the challenge has always revolved around its own emojis - the new ones are basically just smileys. The emojis we use are links so I think they should be OK as long as I can write code that will allow that to work. I need to know what code is being used for the code block. It would be much easier if html was usable but if it isn't I will have to recode, which I can do, as soon as someone can tell me how the code block works and what language should be used for it.

HTML is still clearly working on the website where it was previously used so I can't see that it would be an issue for the new text editor to provide for its use? :/

I would have highlighted just the parts of your post that I wanted to agree with - but of course I can't do that now…
Like the Parking board, the Consumer Rights board needs to allow posters to quote chains of posts and enable those quoted posts to be edited, otherwise posts become too "deranged" to be able to follow clearly.
It's as if members of the MSE team don't realise how their forum is used.
I suppose it's more important to get posters to be "nice" to each other than it is to ensure that people who come here desperately wanting advice to avoid paying parking charges or to get a refund for a faulty purchase get correct advice.

I don't think the developers of any modern forum software realise how any forum is meant to be used, Its Not Twitter!
…………………..
The link i had truble with eailer now won't even post in a new post.

I want to quote only the last short paragraph of a 10 or 12 long paragraph essay that someone wrote as an original post, and I want to add this as a remark after quoting a shortened version of that person's currently last post on the thread
Both of these things are impossible since this improvement, and instead a whole post would be shown, with just the first couple of completely irrelevant pararaphs showing, and an expansion arrow to see the rest of the post, with me completely unable to then highlight the actual 20 or so out of a thousand or more words that I want to refer to

I have donned my tin hat…
Been on this forum since 2007 (for reasons I won't explain, I have a new user name).
Anyway, every time the server was changed/updated etc there were issues and members didn't like it. But not once did it revert back to the old style and I can't see it being any different this time.
Just saying…
