The Forum is getting a new text editor

I'm not keen. Is it all right to say that? Only we haven't really been asked for feedback. But if we are asked, I have to say I'm not impressed. Thank you though.
Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. The inability to edit a quote is an unacceptable change, cut&paste is not a substitute as you lose the attribtuion for the source of the quote.
Anything other than enabling editing of quotes is a poor substitute which is resulting in a huge amount of time being wasted to get the same effect as we had before… net result is fewer people getting helped and a lot less clarity on the answers given…

Agree with @MalMonroe, why did nobody ask us???
Even agreeing with @MalMonroe was fiddly as I had to check the username carefully as no options show with the 'improvrd' text editor

…and did you notice that the @MalMonroe wasn't a 'link' to the user's profile - as it used to be? 😉

MSE Stephen - you are using two colors in your answer - black and blue. And for highlighting text in the Challenges people do on here, they need to be able to use color or larger text so their participation amounts stand out. Readability will decrease in these cases.

The new 'improved' quote facility is awful - the whole post is quoted and given an url so the reader has to click on it to read and then can't identify what part is relevant to them.
Being able to customise text in new ways is not much help when one of the old ways was far superior and useful.

It is annoying that one has to quote the whole post as one block, rather than being able to split it up, which is very obviously a backwards step, however the biggest issue is that the new system blocks Chrome spellcheck, I have tested this across three different Windows version of Chrome and two Android versions and on all three it stops Chrome recognising it as a text box. This is something that should be fixed as a priority.

I don't care about bespoke emojis. I don't understand some of the finer tech points being discussed above. But PLEASE revert to showing quoted posts, rather than links as it's impossible to follow threads in the current format.

Why have quotes been replaced by a link? It's impossible to see what the post is refering to

It's putting in spaces I'm not asking for - and can't remove. (Highlighted by the red line).
Previously when adding a line of text, you pressed enter, and you'd move to the next line, now it's putting in an extra space that I don't want, and can't remove.
