I'm glad to read it's sounding more positive for DH apart from not getting sick pay. Mr SA was in hospital for 9 months 12 years ago and I was at the hospital every single day for the whole 9 months, often doing a day's work then going straight to the hospital, there was no option to WFH in those days. I know how tiring hospital visiting can be.

Mr SA wasn't entitled to sick pay either, he was a sub-contractor so effectively self-employed. I never thought we'd be able to manage on just my income but surprisingly we did. There was still about £5k debt left to pay off but I managed to clear this albeit slowly. The first thing I did after the initial shock of his sudden illness had worn off was set myself up a budget based on the new circumstances. He never recovered enough to go back to work unfortunately but we've managed really well.

Thankfully you've got the savings to fall back on if need be but I think you'll surprise yourself on being able to manage.

Don't forget to look after yourself amongst all this x

Best wishes to your DH for a speedy recovery and hope he gets back home soon. I’m sure the holiday will be just what you need and go some way to helping you restore your MH. Look after yourself LMD.
We are finding it helps to eat small amounts during the day rather than a big meal and we take a sandwich or salad and fruit. We go for a walk at lunch time or any other time when your DH has lunch / needs to rest. Please don’t take this the wrong way but we found dad needed a little break from us sitting over him too.

Wishing you all the best. Any improvement is a positive

great news, must be a relief for you knowing that he can come home soon
  • Good morning, I hope everyone is doing ok?  I'm feeling a bit better about things as DH is seeming noticeably better in himself these past few days, he is due another scan today to see if things have healed internally. If so, I think they will make a plan to get him home asap.  He has been home for a few hours over the weekend on a sort of 'day release' and I think that did his mental health a bit of good.

The weather is awful today, I'm assuming it's the latest storm... not really been keeping up on news lately. Anyway it's chilly this morning and I've had to pop the lights on as it's really dark.

Today I have stuffed my £36 envelope for my challenge and then there was the usual £5 to the sabbatical.  It's a NSD for me today, in the challenge thread Cathybird has said there's no need to count my hospital parking as a spend so that's good.  Work is very busy at the moment so there's no spending elsewhere.

That's all from me today, i want to try and get back to posting regularly if I can.
    Have great days
    LMD x

All sounds more positive LMD, with things getting better bit by bit. Interesting you saying about the weather being bad. I was thinking this morning how nice it was down here. Now I’m back at home with soaking wet shoes, socks and jacket… and perfect blue sky and sunshine again  :|  Good old British weather eh!!
That sabbatical fund has really built up seeing as it was pretty much just a fiver at a time

    Thanks!
It really has been £5 a day except for the interest it earns which gets added at the start of the month.  It’s that PADding you know… it does add up!

  • Good morning, I have been awake since very early this morning and started working about 5am, beds are made, living room is clean and tidy and washing is already on.  Anything to distract me from what is now just a waiting game for some good news that DH can come home.

Today's PAD includes £5 to the sabbatical and some bills. It's a NSD again for me, we don't really have any spare cash to do much at the moment and I am already out for the day on Thursday for my sister's birthday which I will need some money for so I'm saving this week's budget for that really.

I haven't mentioned my reading challenge for a while, but I am pleased to report I am now starting book 39 of the year. I'm enjoying it very much and it's been a very welcome distraction over the past 6 weeks. I still have a lot more to read too :)

    That's it from me today
