I have been actively recording energy usage since 2010 (still the same property in 2022), mainly because energy companies kept increasing/decreasing the DD causing loads in credit or loads of debit. Since then I've known where to set my DD.
I've not had the heating on since second week of February (excluding 8 hours when it snowed for a 2-3 days in early march).
2021 I knew the prices would go up so had a push to see how far I could cut back in late 21 early 22, so there will be little usage difference over 2023.
Kwh's used
April 23 (3 days left but it's negligible)
Gas 98 kWh
Electric 82 kWh
April 22
Gas 108 kWh
Electric 90 kWh
But if I go back to where to where price's were cheaper and I was less actively controlled usage and cutting costs it looks something like this.
April 21
Gas 686 kWh
Electric 141 kWh
Another interesting statistic?
118kg less co2 released for both fuels in April 22 over April 2021.
Now if I go into the whole year's usage for both fuels...
2020 co2 emissions for my home was 2,075kg.
2022 both fuels co2 emissions amounted to 877kg.
A total of 1,200kg less co2 released over 2020's usage.2 -

climate controlWhilst everyone bangs on about global warming, there is credible research that indicates Europe would suffer a cooling effect. Because of the Gulf Stream (also known as the "Atlantic meridional overturning circulation" or AMOC) brings warm waters up from the equatorial Atlantic, we do not suffer from extreme cold during the winter. Evidence suggests that as the Greenland icecap melts, dumping vast amounts of fresh water in to the oceans, the AMOC will be severely disrupted or even shut down completely. Once this happens, Northern Europe would suffer extreme cold in the winter and higher temperatures during the summer.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

I've had my heating on again for the past 3 days and it is using as much gas daily as it was using in January.1

When I posted on 22nd I was down on last April month to date. Now firmly up on last year and heading for average. Rolling year has risen over March and April after falling since Dec 2021 with a slight blip in Sept 22.

Just done the figures for April - 20% INCREASE in gas usage this year vs last year ,reflecting the cooler weather but leccy is 17% DOWN year on year - so we are doing something right! even if we can't get anywhere near the consumption numbers some are reporting!1
