Escape to the country & living off savings

Thanks SQS and thriftylynny 😊
The eye test was over with very quickly but the drops didn’t wear off until after 4pm. Now I have a blinding headache so I’m off to bed. Hopefully back to normal in the morning.Thriftylynny I only have one plant in my hanging basket. I think it depends on how big your hanging basket is. My tom plant is huge with lots of side shoots & filling the basket. It’s got flowers on already. I’ve never grown them before. Apparently you don’t take off the side shoots according to rhs website.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Used up the last of the salad bits with tuna & cheese for lunch. Just steak left in fridge for dinner tonight (with root veg mash & broccoli in freezer) & enough milk for breakfast & cuppa tomorrow with 1/2 tin peaches (in juice but I wash it off)
Aquafit in the morning then will drive to my sisters. I’ve filled the car up from holiday pot & took £50 cash out of my current account to take with me. Looking forward to a nice weekend.0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

Have arrived on the east coast at my sisters after a couple of hours drive. Aquafit was ok this morning. I just took it steady as I didn’t want to set my ankles off hurting again.I’ve been reading about bucket lists and holidays on other threads and have been thinking about whether I should be more adventurous in my retirement. 🤔
As a child we had an annual holiday in several east coast seaside resorts. I had riding lessons. I went on a riding holiday with my sister in Derbyshire. I went on camping holidays with the d of e award, including rock climbing & abseiling. I rode my friends ex-racehorse in my teens. I went to the south of France with college friends. I lived in Scotland for a while, then moved down south. I have been on holiday to Spain, Rome (including the colosseum) & Sicily (including a trip up Etna), Dubai (& went on a desert safari) & travelled on eurotunnel with ex & DS to Disneyland paris in its 5th year. When I was married we had a speedboat and traveled along the south coast, mainly around Dorset. We rode horses on Dartmoor. I did an animal management course level 3 at night school when DS was young. I have fed a giraffe, held a snake and been charged at by a rhino (Longleat)
So I think I will be content to have a quiet life in my retirement. I would love to go horse riding again but am too worried about falling off now. My old bones are not likely to bounce like they used to. 😆 Other than that I would like to try tai chi but have not been able to find a local class. I would have liked to see the pyramids but would be too cautious to go to Egypt. I have no burning desire to go up in a hot air balloon or parachute jump out of a plane. Perhaps my sense of adventure has retired too 😆

I have ambitions to retire when I'm 55, and I don't have any great bucket list or travel plans. I find your diary inspirational because you demonstrate how it's possible to have a comfortable life on a fairly low income. You still get out and about and visit friends and family, so as long as you are happy, do retirement your way!"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". You are too young to retire your adventurous side! Give it time ! Very impressive list of past holidays, trips and experiences. Your bones are not old at 55 ! Last week I had a great time in the Waterpark riding the flumes and I’m 65!3
