Ok, I’m officially stumped. 10 days since I sent the form back and nothing from UB. Went to NatWest to show my ID but they didn’t know what to do with me.

Is there a number I should call? Either an Ulster or NatWest application centre?
If you google 'natwest customer service', you'll see the number. As people have said it is a slow process, but if you have the application reference hopefully they will be able to check it.
  • Everybody's been completely useless... NatWest support, Ulster on the phone, NatWest again, just going in circles. I didn't think a bank could be worse than Co-op...
  • The system is overloaded, just be patient.

I used Cora on their website, was instantly connected to a rep that fast tracked my application - I received the paper form the next day or shortly after.

FWIW I later called them to inquire about something else (account type change) and the lady on the phone was totally lost, in the end she said I should call them again or just contact Cora because "she knows these things very well".

  • Thanks everyone! Despite what the staffer on Cora/chat said it seems they opened my account regardless. Got texts that card and PIN coming this morning. No account details or customer number yet though. And nothing about the switch.
  • I applied online and wasn’t asked to upload any documents etc. Today I received the printed application to sign and return. It asks for the printed application to be signed and returned along with any supporting documentation. The letter gives no specifics on what the supporting documentation would be. Reading other replies it looks as though I just need to sign this form and post it back. Is that correct? The hard search has appeared on my credit file.
  • You could take it and two forms of ID to a local NatWest branch to be safe but yes, it seems they open the account without ID too despite insisting to the contrary

Thanks. Seems like this thread is a support group for people enduring the Ulster Bank application process.

    Hi @SupaSava2000 ...

... you may want to include the printed sheet with your application details.

Don't know if you need to but I filled in the gaps ... i.e. name on card and investments/savings.
  • So I’ve now had a “your debit card is on its way” and a “your switch will be completed on 30/03/2023” text (and a switcher email) but I have no idea what my customer number or account details are.

Would a NatWest branch be able to locate these details for me? Or would it just come up with my NatWest customer profile?
