I was so livid I today tried calling up to close the account down immediately.

Were you so livid that you returned your £200 bung?

Hahaha no. But I’m just so frustrated that the complaints team are just not accepting they are wrong.

This bank is nothing short of shambolic. Someone, either Halifax or Ulster messed up my switch which caused it to fail. Neither bank contacted me. Contacting Ulster and EVERYONE sends you to Cora. Waited three days for a reply from Cora to tell me the switch was cancelled. Now I have no idea if I am eligible to switch, and guess what. No one can tell me

May I suggest you raise a complaint either with Ulster Bank or NatWest who are in charge of applications for the group, if you are confident you have followed the application process correctly. You don't need to use Cora for that, you can phone or use an online form.

I remember reading on one of the two main threads somebody else having similar difficulties, who after complaining received £200 compensation.

They telling me that my switch failed because I had an incoming switch to Halifax…

I can initiate the switch again but I am now classed as an existing customer and I wasn’t a reward customer before the 14th of Feb so don’t think I’m eligible.

I’ve made numerous calls AFTER the date my switch cancelled and no one told me. People passing me to the switch team and the call disconnecting because apparently they don’t take incoming calls
  • wizzywig, I would make a complaint about the customer service and lack of communication (not the switch failing) and I'd also reapply. Don't worry about the terms - the bank doesn't read or interpret them nearly as strictly as we tend to on the forum!

    Ulster Bank is closing!

I opened an account with Ulster just for the £200 switch money.

Money received  I like to keep things tidy so I decide to close the account. The chat messaging team advice me to call 0035318047475 as I am outside Northern Ireland.

I get a recorded message that Ulster Bank is closing.

That number appears to be for the Republic of Ireland not Northern Ireland.

Why close it? Keep a quid in there and use it for the next switch offer that comes along.

And yes, Ulster Bank are closing their ROI branches.
