No mention of it in the letter. Apparently it’s random whether you are selected for online verification or postal. Just my luck

It asks for the printed application to be signed and returned along with any supporting documentation. The letter gives no specifics on what the supporting documentation would be. Reading other replies it looks as though I just need to sign this form and post it back. Is that correct? The hard search has appeared on my credit file.0

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

[Deleted User] said:Has anyone from Northern Ireland applied for the Ulster Bank switch? I filled in the application and wasn't asked to pick a branch. Was wondering if there is a different timeline for people with a BT postcode.Based on my experience, the timeline is no better for those with a BT postcode. I'm in NI. My nearest UB branch is about two miles away. It still took ages to complete each of the multiple steps for opening an account. I did eventually get it opened, and got the switching bonus, but yeah, their opening processes are a shambles.I only opened the account so my son could open an account with them (he's 15 and it had to be done via my UB online banking). Eventually, after my account was open and online banking set up, we got his application started via my online banking, only to then get a letter asking him to take documents into the branch. We did that, they got his account set up. One of the reasons he wanted it was so that he could have a current & savings account on the same app, so then he tried to open the savings account. That process involved two phone-calls, each of them over an hour long, and then a few days later he got a letter asking him to take documents into the branch again. They close at 4pm and he's at school so I went in with the documents for him. Oh no, they said, he'd have to bring them in himself. A couple of weeks later when there was an early-finish day at school, so he took the documents in - and they told him he was too late, they'd already cancelled the savings account application because he hadn't brought the documents into branch sooner.I'm keeping an eye out for a decent switch offer I can use to get rid of my own UB account. Son isn't using his UB account, and will open an account elsewhere once he turns 16. It's all very...not impressive.0
