I wouldn’t be without my pets despite the occasional vets bills. Mine haven’t cost me that much over the years to be honest apart from my old tom cat, he was a little devil bless him.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5

I'm just catching up: good to hear your younger cat is on the mend and the dog's ears are being actively looked after, though it's all so expensive.
Well done for your 10 January NSDs!
I hope you get a good night' sleep tonight.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Had to laugh at just £101
At end of December our cat went for a dental appointment at just £325. He has cancer in his jaw bone and doesn't have much longer with us though so I'll let him off I guess
He takes his medicine on some pate which we got him as he can't chew now but somehow wolfs down half a tin in seconds bless him
One of our other cats got into fights and he was a nightmare to get meds into. I ended up scratched and one he even ripped my pajamas 😂
Sounds like budgets and exercises are going great. Hope Mr SA doesn't get too grumpy when he's hungry4 -
Happy Saturday 🥂
Today has flown by! I woke up at 3.30 am fretting about the young cat as she’d been curled in a tight ball in the bedroom window seat all night. Eventually got up at 4.30 only to find she was so much better and hanging round for food. I was worrying about getting the meds into her so bought some expensive tiny tinned cat food and added the meds - it worked 🥳
Sorry to hear about your cat @Crazycatlady2. A few years ago I shelled out £500 for my older cat to have her teeth cleaned, £200 of which was for blood tests to make sure she was ok to go under general anaesthetic.Exercise has been a live Salsacise class this morning which was very enjoyable now they have the tech issues sorted. Followed by walking to/from the big Mr T incorporating a dog walk.DS arrived after lunch with just DGS in tow as DGD was at her friend’s party. Didn’t see much of DGS as he was gaming with DD.Mr SA has returned to the walking poles pester and apparently buying him a new set will save the cost of hiring a scooter on holiday as he’ll be able to walk miles with them 😐
Tonight’s dinner is beetroot burger, home made wedges and salad.
Looking forward to pink Prosecco and The Masked Singer later. Apologies to anyone I’ve got hooked on this utter madness 🤣🤣I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
Wow, Mr SA walking miles would be a miracle. Hope he doesn't carry up this pester too long. Thats not something that's going to be of any benefit to him.September 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x2 -
He'd better get started on the arm exercises since he'll be the one (hypothetically) carrying them around when not on suitable terrain. And he'll need to find the extra money to take them on the plane. Oh, and to buy them in the first place since you're on countdown to retirement 🙄
Hope you're enjoying pink prosecco and Masked Singer. I don't actually believe you're sorry at all 😂3 -
I am sure that somewhere I have mr Redos walking poles, he used them once and hated them. Mr SA would be most welcome to them if I can find them?My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Morning all 😊
I was up late for me this morning at 6.30. I slept like a log so obviously making up for the lost sleep the other night.
As today will be NSD1 of February, I decided to close off the 4 week budget period today. There was an overall underspend of £250.30, would've been £300 if I hadn't done a biggish shop in Mr T yesterday but decided to stock up as there was a good surplus left in the grocery pot. I've divided up the underspend and sent the £100 underspend in the grocery pot to the vet pot as it needs building up again. £50 has gone to personal spends, £50 to entertainment, £50 to home improvements and the 30p left has gone to the Christmas pot.
All regular savers have been fed with the maximum amount. The 6 months saver matures on Wednesday and has been set to automatically open a new 6 months saver and the balance will go into the current account ready to pay the holiday balance on 17 February. The new 6 months saver is for the next holiday, not yet booked but likely to be September/October time. Not sure where we want to go yet.
£150 mortgage overpayment has gone and the mortgage is now down to £3729.15. Still on track to be gone by the end of the year.
All ready to start the new 4 week budget period tomorrow.
Today's exercise will be dog walking and I need to do 2 lots of the 30 day yoga as I forgot yesterday.
Meal plan for the week ahead has been done, still on a use it up mission.
DD has gone to work so will be giving the bathroom and kitchen a good clean. I need to vacuum everywhere and steam scrub the floors.
On the subject of Mr SA's walking poles, he's found one but can't find the other one, it will be no doubt outside somewhere. This pester comes up on a regular basis usually around spring time. These walking poles will work miracles and get him walking miles just like they did last time 🙄 He's also started planning his outfit for DS's October wedding and is going on and on and on about all the things he'll need to buy. DS reminded him it's an informal occasion so just a smart shirt and trousers will be fine.
Tonight's dinner is kale mac 'n' cheese from a recipe I cut out of the Waitr0se weekly paper. Can you believe I've never had macaroni cheese before ever! I always think it looks too beige but this one looks quite nice with the kale.
I have plenty of pink Prosecco left for tonight as I fell asleep around 8.30 woke up on the sofa at 11, went to bed and slept until 6.30 this morning.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
"Tonight's dinner is kale mac 'n' cheese from a recipe I cut out of the Waitr0se weekly paper. Can you believe I've never had macaroni cheese before ever! I always think it looks too beige but this one looks quite nice with the kale. "I'm the reverse - I've never knowingly had kale!2
