I'm okay with cacti but I can't keep ivy going (unless it's in the garden, when it's a battle to stop it spreading).

My tip for keeping cacti alive is totally ignore them and shove them in a corner of the greenhouse 🤣 This one produces a beautiful huge pink flower occasionally.

Bit late in the day but happy Saturday 🥂

I’ve had a pottering about day both in the house and garden.

Took the dog on the park this morning and did a huge litter pick. Was over there for ages as everyone wanted to talk to me about litter.

Ordered a garden shredder on Thursday and it arrived today. Not tested it yet but it will be very useful as I often struggle to fit everything in the garden waste bin and the resulting shreds will be good mulch for the garden.

The gardener came to quote for a new fence at the bottom of the garden and some trellising around the pond.

Got a refund from B00ts for the missing pack of plant sterols.

The case of 6 wines and beers for £45 courtesy of the MSE weekly email code arrived today. Thanks to @PennysIntoPounds for mentioning that on her thread 👍Sampled a glass of one of the wines in my hanging chair this afternoon. Mr SA tested one of the beers and declared it ‘alright’.

Made a veggie lasagne for tonight’s dinner. Three portions left to go in the freezer.

The rose Prosecco is open but I’m absolutely shattered so no doubt there’ll be loads left for tomorrow.

I'll be interested in how shredder ownership works out for you. I've just worked out that if it managed to eliminate enough green bin stuff to make a green bin unnecessary, then it would pay for itself in just over two years. I suppose people vary with what they put in their green bins but our seems to be predominantly woody stuff that won't compost.

Happy Sunday.

I’ve got a very busy day ahead as I need to clean the whole house and go to the big Mr T. DD has gone to work so too good an opportunity to miss to get the cleaning done. Going to get the laundry basket emptied as I won’t be able to hang washing out while the garden work is being done.

I also need to remove the ivy from the old fence at the bottom of the garden as the gardener can start the new fence and other work tomorrow. Mr SA said he’ll get a chair and pull off as much as he can. That would be a massive help. Also need to assemble and test the garden shredder.

I’ve got a deep conditioning treatment on my hair so need to wash that off shortly then get cracking.

Sat down next to the pond to read my book and these made me jump. They’ve suddenly sprung up and are huge, about 6 inches in diameter. Google says they’re Parasol mushrooms.

That’s another weekend done 😞

Got lots done. Cleaned the whole house, did loads of washing and ironing. Removed the ivy from the fence at the bottom of the garden. Put the garden shredder together but not plucked up the courage to test it out yet.

Went to the big Mr T earlier and bumped into the painter. He’s coming to quote tomorrow.

There was a beautiful grey tom cat in our garden this afternoon and the old cat was growling at him 😆He wasn’t bothered in the least and stood his ground. He was really friendly and enjoyed a fuss.

After I’d spent ages removing the ivy spotted Mr SA hosepiping everywhere again including my almost dry washing and the chair cushions 😖 He was almost maniacal with it again shooting water all over. It’s so annoying when he does this.

Right off to bed as I need to be up at 4.30 to go in the office for a couple of meetings. Mr SA will have to meet and greet the gardener. I should be back at lunchtime so any questions will have to wait.

They certainly do look like parasol mushrooms & if they are, they are delicious fried in butter. Be absolutely certain though, before you try them!

Can you put some sort of MrSA-proof lock on the outside tap so he can't turn the hose on SA? He seems to have developed a bit of an obsession with it doesn't he!

MrEH has a little collection of cacti as I bought him some seeds for them a few years ago as an almost jokey present. Neither of us imagined for a moment they would actually grow, but they have!
