Not long after we adopted Soot & Ash they both got poorly from eating bits off a bunch of daffodils I'd got on the windowsill. I knew the bulbs were poisonous but not that the rest of the plant could be a problem for cats. They'd defo been chomping them as I found the evidence. Lethargy then awful sickness & the runs but they did pick up quickly once it was out of their systems so thankfully we didn't need the vet after all. Daffodils now only go on my piano where cats don't go. So I'd have examined that hyacinth too, just in case, though if you can't see any well-chewed or missing bits, it probably isn't that. Aren't they a worry? It must be difficult taking a cat carrier when you don't have a car. Hope it all goes ok.

One emergency vet appointment and £101 later…
She has an infection, the vet spotted a possible cat bite on the back of her neck which looks to be turning into an abscess. She had a very high temperature. Anyway an injection of antibiotics and painkillers have already worked their magic and she’s loads better already and eating. Had to smile when I paid as I was cheerily told the consultation was free thanks to the vet plan so ‘just’ £101 to pay 😐It’s the dog’s turn tomorrow for a check up on her ear infection.Got a taxi there and back but had to walk down the road both ends because of the roadworks outside my house so they couldn’t get anywhere near. It’s causing absolute chaos and they’ve still got to do the opposite side of the road.Very sad to see the vet had candles lit on the reception desk so someone was saying goodbye to their beloved pet ☹️I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)8 -
Ah that's not nice, but also respectful of the vet to recognise the impact. I have never know that before.
'Just' £101 the language they use sometimes makes me smile. Just glad she is sorted though.September 2017 Debt = £25330

Wow, pets are expensive these days. After our cat died back in our spendy era, we just decided it was way too risky to get another one, as could end up costing us a fortune.Making the debt go down and savings go up

Glad cat is okay. Very touching that the vets light candles for the pets that are passing 💔
Had a similar payment cheek today, put in an online order and it said 'we add a small extra charge of £4 for orders under £40'. Wouldn't have got my back up if that was just the charge, take it or leave it, but their choosing to insert the word 'small' got right on my nerves, if you think it's small you can cover it and no need to mention it and make people feel diminished for having other needs for £4s then4 -

Morning all, happy Friday eve.
WFH today but will be out a good part of the morning as it's the dog's turn for the vets for a check up on her ear infection. As the vets is at the retail park Mr SA will get his Gr£ggs coffee and sausage roll while I swoop round BnM - I have a list 😆 Might drop off the soft plastics recycling at Mr T on the way to save a job on Saturday.
The young cat is loads better this morning and has finally been outside to do her business. I'm going to pick her up some posh cat food today to tempt her appetite back. I also need to get some fish paste as she has two lots of meds to take tonight - she's a nightmare to get any sort of medication into so not looking forward to that.
Today's exercise is walking to/from the vets (around 4 miles each way), a live weights session at 12.30, day 5 of the yoga challenge and a live aerobics session tonight (Zumba instructor off sick again ☹).
Tonight's dinner is veggie sausage and sweet potato traybake which will use up 2 veggie sausages that have been lurking in the freezer for ages and a lone sweet potato.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6 -
Ouch to the vets bill but glad the cat is improving. Hope the dog visit isn't too painful today."If you can dream it, you can do it". Walt Disney2
