Prices for alcohol have already been raised at the beginning of October due to the minimum alcohol pricing thing. Sigh.

Oh SA how dare you enter that men only sanctum without Mr SA.I think working from jome is a good plan and might stop Mr SA interfering with the builder too much. Good luck.2

I love the evidence of your great taste in lampshades! Glad you got the right paint at the right price, too.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

Morning all, happy hump day.
WFH as decided yesterday. Not sure how working in the living room with Mr SA and his war films will pan out but it's only a short term measure. I've got quite a busy day meeting wise.
DD's wardrobes/desk will be finished today. Hoping the painter can start on Thursday so I can book the floor chap in. Extra hoping that everything will be done by the end of next week but I'll be happy if DD's room is done and I can move into my office room.
Looks like I'll have to go to Mr T to take advantage of that 25% off 6 bottles of wine and get stocked up! The offer is on until 31 October if anyone else is thinking along the same lines.
Today's exercise will be dog walking at some stage this morning, I'm sure we can leave the builder on his own for 30 minutes, then Zumba at 6pm.
Tonight's dinner is veg meatballs from freezer stocks with pasta and salad.
I need to completely clear out the dining room tonight ready for the plasterer doing the ceiling tomorrow. I'm going to advertise the table and remaining two chairs on the local FB group free for someone to take. I've worked out how I want the dining room setting up once it's finished and there won't be room for them.
The young cat is hating all this work going on and keeps running around the house alarmed and crying at the door to go back out again. The older cat isn't bothered in the least.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)7 -
All of your projects have reminded me that it really is time that we were making a start on touching up a few bits around the house. There is nothing too bad but a few scuffs here and there and a dodgy bit of plaster in the living room!
Just can't find the motivation to make a start on any of it.......2 -
The wardrobes and desk are finished. Plasterer arriving at 8am tomorrow and painter starting on Friday.
I wish Mr SA would stop telling his sister everything we're doing. She phones him every day and he told her about the refurb. Of course this has started her back off again on the nagging about converting the under stairs cupboard into a toilet 🤬 I plan to get this done with my pension lump sum when I retire so it is on the cards but it won't be cheap. We did get accepted for a grant from the council to make conversions for accessibility reasons but we had to pay the first £7k and I don't think it would cost this much. DD's bedroom was urgent as it was desperately in need of renovation. What's it got to do with her anyway!!
The table and chairs have been advertised on the local FB group so hoping that might be gone soon.
On the money front today has been another NSD.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)5 -
I guess anything interesting that happens in the house is something for MrSA to talk about, but I get how frustrating it is. She isn’t involved in helping, so shouldn’t be suggesting anything. The grant rules are ridiculous, you may as well go for a top notch downstairs toilet conversation just so you can claim some back.Do DD’s wardrobes and desk look really good? I had to laugh at the man tool box 😂😂😂
What a worry about Dd. Glad she is home again and on the mend.
i had a bakery item from Lidl and hadn’t realised they had to be redeemed within the week. I thought it was the month so I lost it. I supposed it’s better for the waistline though.Hope the rest of the building work goes without a glitch.January spends - £587.582
