I always have a penknife in my handbag, also a screwdriver & scissors - I don't travel abroad, which is just as well, as it wouldn't occur to me to take them out beforehand!

I once had my eyelash curlers confiscated at the airport when they first started the extra security measures. I mean seriously what did they think I was going to do with them 🤣

That's hilarious, SA! The scans are incredibly sensitive: I got stopped at airport security for what turned out to be a sewing needle I'd bought and put in my purse so it wouldn't fall out of a shopping bag.
I also did my homework on what various airlines permitted so I took bamboo knitting needles on a long haul flight. At the other end - Australia - I had to declare them as it counts as importing biological material.
I'm going to sit up late wondering what they thought you'd do with eyelash curlers.I think a bit of sunshine is good for frugal living. (Cranky40)

OK - so many years back I worked for a construction company, and part of my role was making site visits to review upcoming project requirements. One one particular occasion I went to a Young Offender's Institution, where I had been before, and so was recognised by the staff in the gatehouse. After a bit of chat, as usual, I placed my bag to be x-rayed, and took a seat while they went through the process. There was a bit of conversation. Someone else was subtly beckoned across, and much whispered debate was had before I was able to make out "Just ask her!" "I'm not asking her - YOU ask her!" and then, came the question... "Look, this might be a strange question, but are you carrying a kitchen knife in your bag?" Once I'd stopped laughing enough to say "absolutely not" they suggested that I walked across to look at the screen, and sure enough, there it was - the side profile of what very much appeared to be a knife - it had a handle, tapering down into a narrower section which then tapered to a point. I took everything out of the bag, but nothing seemed problematic. They re-x-rayed the empty bag - which was clear. So we started looking at each item, and the only thing that looked even possible was a wide toothed plastic comb - but that was plastic, so shouldn't have shown up... Sure enough, on re x-raying THAT, it became apparent that the "plastic" comb had a metal core for rigidity - thicker through the handle, and tapering to a point as the end of the comb was reached...! Actually funnier than embarrassing in the end!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

That's the worst part of the week almost done.
Worked in the office this morning and left just after lunch to log on back home. Just need to do another hour or so. I've got a mountain of work to get through before I break up for holiday. Work seems to have ramped up several notches this week.
Picked up the currency from M&S on the way home and also picked up some cat sticks from Lid!.
Got home just in time to get the washing in before the heavens opened. It's been lovely and sunny, but cold, all day up to now. Just noticed it's hailing not raining!
Exercise has been walking to/from work and Zumba at 6pm.
Tonight's dinner is a portion of veggie lasagne from freezer stocks with salad.
Right best crack on or I'll be working until midnight at this rate.

Well I use my tweezers to remove those hairs that were never there until I hit my 70s, so maybe they were afraid their grandmas were going to look like their (well certainly younger) other people.
