I can't send the £200 to Nationwide RS until after the 13th so this has been put to one side for now.
The YBS Christmas Saver matures today and that will turn into an easy access saver tomorrow. The interest rate is pretty decent for an easy access at 4.8% so this will be where the emergency fund livesMy YBS Christmas saver also matures tomorrow and like you I think I will leave it open as the interest rate isn’t bad.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. To be honest I don’t know for sure @enthusiasticsaver. Calendar month would be easier.Mr SA won’t be going up any ladders, he can’t get past the first step on a step ladder. He’s an ex roofer and it’s hard for him to accept he can no longer climb ladders. The door has been non stop since 5pm with trick or treaters. I’m about to run out of sweets so will have to put a sign on the door saying sorry out of treats. I’ve already started giving out fewer to eke them out.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

That’s it I’m out of treats! I don’t think we’ve ever had so many! I was hoping to get a few jobs done after work but I’ve been constantly interrupted by answering the door.Thank goodness that’s it for another year 😅I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)2

You are too kind SA. We just put a sign on the door saying sorry no trick or treat.Mr LH wouldnt go up a ladder to the roof if you paid him. We have the added complication of the conservatory which goes the width of the house. We have had people go over the top of the roof to come down above the conservatory. Rather them than me.1

We live on a rarely visited street and have had one set of trick or treaters in 15 years, despite the giant inflatable pumpkin etc in previous years. It's a great excuse to buy and eat sweets 'just in case'.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

I can’t believe I’ve just had more trick or treaters knock on the door at 8.45! They were little kids with parents! I had a sign on my door saying out of treats but took it off at 8pm as I thought that was it. Needless to say I ignored them. It has been ridiculous tonight. People on the local FB group were saying the area was teeming with kids dressed up. Downside of it being dry weather and half term I guess.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)1

Halloween is huge in my village, I’ve probably handed out sweets to 150-200 kids of varying ages. I’d had a lovely shower and was in my PJs when the door went at 9.40 - it was some teens, I told them no chance far too late and they replied everyone is saying that - why ? Err because it’s bed time. We sent my doggy away to doggy boarding tonight, it’s far too traumatic for her. Even if they don’t come to the door there’s lots and lots of people around 😢Sealed pot challenge 822

I am glad to say Halloween for us is just restricted to our own grandchildren as my DD won’t let them go knocking on doors so we do our own version at home. On Saturday we made Halloween decs with them and we all hid around the house with sweets for the GK to find. We are away from home now anyway visiting my mum.SA If you wanted to move the nationwide RS payment over now it has just let me move mine so it is every calendar month. I opened mine roughly the same time as you mid October. Makes a bit more interest if it goes in on 1st.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free Wannabe, Budgeting and Banking and Savings and Investment boards. I'm sure that NW reg savers are calendar month - I transferred my S2S money this morning and it was later than the 1st last month - and it didn't bounce back as far as I know... (In fact, just logged in and checked, it's showing on the account where it should be so all good).
There were lots of littlies with parents wandering round near us last night - I'm afraid we're anti-social on such things and so had curtains all pulled at the front of the house as soon as I got home, but I reckon the etiquette is that if there are no decorations out people don't knock, as I didn't have anyone even trying. We'll probably decorate the house for Christmas, but not for halloween.
That reminds me - I want to keep an eye for the supermarkets getting those little dressed Christmas trees in pots in - one of those would be perfect for the front with a small set of solar lights on it.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Happy November - how can it be November already!
That's Wednesday done. Worked in the office for 6 hours and made the rest of my day up from home.
Sent £200 to the Nationwide RS today so thank you for the info ES and EH 😊 I've also closed and transferred my small YBS ISA to the decent interest YBS account which opened automatically today. No idea why I was hanging onto this ISA with just over £400 in it. Just waiting for the Principality to mature now then will transfer some more money into the emergency fund, Christmas and home improvements pots. Once I've been with YBS for a year I'll see if the 7% interest RS is still available. The new Principality RS starts on the 4th. It's all go 😆
A whole raft of direct debits have gone out including £100 overpayment to the mortgage.
£250 has been sent to the holiday pot.
November will be a spendy month as I have quite a bit happening. Sunday I need to take Mr SA into the city centre for an eye test which won't cost anything in itself but it will be the associated coffee and possibly lunch stops. He could do with some new joggers and a sweatshirt to be honest. A week on Friday I have the day off to meet friends for lunch and this will involve a train ride. Towards the end of the month it's a local Christmas fair DS and the GKs like to go to and I always pay for drinks in the bar afterwards. Then at the end of the month it's the Abba tribute concert that I still haven't told Mr SA about. We're all going for a meal first. Someone at work has lent me an Abba costume so that's one less thing to get. Fortunately this spending is accounted for and money is set aside to pay for it all which didn't used to happen years ago!
Today's exercise has been walking to/from work and I'm doing a Zumba class at 6pm.
Tonight's dinner is a portion of veggie lasagne from the freezer with salad.
