    Can you not just send a text every 89 days for about 5p?

    If you have topped up £5 through the 50/50/250 offer link or £15 through that link you won't be charged for the text or call. But if you are only using the phone for data or not using it at all you could be disconnected. I was sure it said 60 days somewhere but you're right t+c def say 90 now.
    Anyway best practice if you are on the free bundle and you haven't used calls or texts that month send a text or give someone a call on the day before your bundle renews.  It will cost you nothing unless they're premium rate.

    Quite clear here, charge against credit balance OR bundle allowance call or sms
    Restricted after 3 months
    Disconnected after 180 days

    You must make an outbound call or text in any 90-day period for your SIM to remain active. If you don't do this, the SIM will enter a restricted state which means you will only be able to receive inbound calls and texts. If this happens you can contact our customer service team to reactivate the SIM. If you do not make at least one chargeable call or send one chargeable SMS/MMS every six months (in either case that results in a charge against your Account or a deduction from the credit or bundle allowance recorded against your Account), then we may terminate this Agreement by giving you 30 days’ notice in writing that your Account will be closed and your SIM Card deactivated.

    Just thinking ahead if that represents a month's usage it is important to remember the t&Cs that you need to call or text once every 60 days to keep your sim active. I Don't think using data counts.
    Where did you find the 60 day figure? As far as I can see the T&Cs here:

    https://www.rwgmobile.wales/mobile-sim-card-t-c/

    says:

This will mean that you can no longer use the Services and you will not be able to make or receive calls (though you will still be able to dial 999) or send or receive text messages. If we close your Account under this paragraph 7 h), you will not be entitled to a refund of any unused credit or Allowances.

    Before joining RWG a few weeks ago I thought what a great deal this was and was wondering how they were going to make any money.
    I didn't realise until now that there has to be a chargeable deduction from my credit at least once every six months.
    I hardly use the phone.

    Looks like I'll have to look for something else when my account has been closed in six months time, maybe this:

    If you hardly ever use the phone why would you even consider topping up £30 for a year (then have to top up £10 every four months to keep the account active? The only people who should be looking at that deal are those who only use their phone in the summer months or at Christmas when they are away at their second home or camping, so need to use their whole year allowance in one chunk.
    If you blow your allowance on rwg you will pay more, 5p/5p/1p but only after you have used all your freebies.
    Is it that hard to remember to send a free text every couple of months to keep on rwg's good side.

    £30 is a one off payment for the year.  You don't have to topup £10 every four months.

    From what I can make out from the T&Cs, it says:

    '...If you do not make at least one chargeable call or send one chargeable SMS/MMS every six months (in either case that results in a charge against your Account or a deduction from the credit or bundle allowance recorded against your Account), then we may terminate this Agreement by giving you 30 days’ notice in writing that your Account will be closed and your SIM Card deactivated.'

    Which means I will have to use either all of my months allowance of minutes or texts or data and use some of my credit at least once in one of those months.
    I can't just keep using the free allowance and not use any of my credit, continuously.
    Unless I'm mistaken?

    You do not have to use any of your credit ever if you like (I don't).

    The one call/text every 90 days can come from your free allowance.

    You are right that with 1p mobile you top up £30 and can then forget about it for a year, but on your anniversary you will need to top up again, even if you have made no calls or texts and used no data. When I was a customer they did offer that if you failed to top up you could be deducted £10 from your credit and retain your sim for four months but they no longer do that.  You have to pay them £10 every four months, so your credit balance could get to ridiculous levels.
    With rwg you don't have to use all your allowance, just some of it. I would guess data is excluded because they have a different relationship with nowmobile for calls/texts to data (i think their about us info says "we have our own data network" so it may actually be a t&c of nowmobile and not rwg at all). But it quite clearly says;
    You must make an outbound call or text in any 90-day period for your SIM to remain active. If you don't do this, the SIM will enter a restricted state

    and;
    you do not make at least one chargeable call or send one chargeable SMS/MMS every six months (in either case that results in a charge against your Account or a deduction from the credit or bundle allowance recorded against your Account), then we may terminate

    Credit OR bundle allowance
    Detailed earlier these are different things, for most of us bundle allowance means freebies.

    Actually this is the section specific to the £5 and £15 topup offer, simply one outbound call or text;
    50 mins, 50 SMS & 250MB offer
    To qualify for the offer above you must make an initial top-up of £5. This will remain as credit on your account and never expire. Your bundle of mins/SMS and data will be added your SIM each month until you cancel the bundle, port your number away from the network or your SIM becomes inactive in line with the conditions below.

    You must make an outbound call or text in any 90-day period for your SIM to remain active. If you don't do this, the SIM will enter a restricted state which means you will only be able to receive inbound calls and texts. If this happens you can contact our customer service team to reactivate the SIM.

    100 mins, 100 SMS & 750MB offer
    To qualify for the offer above you must make an initial top-up of £15. This will remain as credit on your account and never expire. Your bundle of mins/SMS and data will be added your SIM each month until you cancel the bundle, port your number away from the network or your SIM becomes inactive in line with the conditions below.

    The chargeable deduction includes your free bundle. They could have worded it better i suppose. Iv been with them nearly 2 years, and not any deduction of my credit in all that time
