My OH and I both have a Google Pixel 4a phone and are on the £15 Free tariff. We both ported in our existing phone numbers to the new SIM. When I send a text the recipient sees my proper (ported in) number, but when my OH sends a text the recipient sees the SIM's original number, as shown on the packaging. This is despite the fact that the phone shows the correct number in Settings,
Sorry, thought at first you were trying to port two numbers to the same sim! I guess you mean you have one phone each and oh phone is behaving differently to yours?
    So what could be different?
If oh sends your phone an sms it comes through as coming from the temporary rwg number? What happens if you call that number? What happens if you send an sms reply? What number is displayed if oh calls your phone? Is an sms app being used? Was the phone used with the old sim, or was it setup with the temporary rwg number?

Thanks for the ideas, I'll check them out... I can say that if she calls my phone, I don't see the calling number as, because she's in my Contacts list, it displays "[OH name] Mobile". However, that must mean the 'ported in' number is being received because that's the only number given in Contacts for OH. Also of note, is that texts coming from say the dentist, who only knows my 'ported in' number, all come through correctly. It just seems to be outgoing texts that show the original SIM number if the recipient doesn't have her in their Contacts list (so shows the incoming number).
BTW, an sms app isn't being used, only the native Pixel phone app.
Have you checked in the Pixel messages app if your partner has registered for chat under her temporary number ?

I own a Pixel phone. You will have an SMS app installed, as you're sending and receiving SMS messages. For Pixel phones the default app is called Messages.

You should go into Messages' settings and disable Chat Features if it's on, then send an SMS to test. Chat Features (RCS) might be retaining the sim's original number. If after disabling Chat Features the SMS shows the ported number, then you can re-enable Chat Features and let it register the new number.

Thanks for the info. I checked both phones and in each case Chat Features were active. I've switched it off on both our Pixels, so I'll monitor what happens.

Hi, I have the 100 mins, 100 SMS plus 750MB of data every month for the one off £15 bundle, I use this in a second phone for outside activities to protect my main from phone damaged and to have a separate network to improve coverage. The plan has been working perfectly since I got it a couple of months ago and I have a reminder to ensure I make a free call and send a free txt on a regular basis in case I don't use it.

My main phone contract fulfils all my needs and I am happy to keep it, but they (another provider, not RWG) have started charging for EU roaming :-(   I know that my RWG contract does not include this but see they have a bundle:

Data ADD-ON (includes EU Roaming) COST: £5 one-off cost DATA: 5GB Bundle Code:  ukrwg5 A 30 day bundle for when you need more allowance.

My question is, does anyone know or have experience of this add on with in conjunction with the £5 or £15 bundle. i.e. if I buy it, either by paying £5 directly or using £5 of the £15 credit) can I just use it for the month, get the free roaming while on holiday and after the 30 days, will my sim revert back to my "free" £15 bundle? I would mainly be interested in data, but if this works, would roaming calls also work or would I need to add on the "Call/SMS ADD-ON (includes EU Roaming) MINS: 1000 SMS:  1000 Bundle Code: ukrwg2 Bundle Code: ukrwg2 " for £3 as well?

    Any help much appreciated.

FYI, I also have the same wrong number displayed on txt issue that Geoff W has. As it's a 2nd phone, not really an issue, just a frustration for my OCD.
Edit: phone is an old Motorola G4plus with Android 7.0

I have not used that data add on ,im on the £15 free, the same as you.
When i went to spain last year,i went on a bigger bundle for a month only,to get free roaming and calls, which worked perfectly, and i could use all the data as well, not capped at a certain amount.
Plus, no £2 a day charge either.
After rhe month was up it reverted back to my original free bundle, with no need to add any more credit.
    Very impressed with rwg

I think if you have a data plan with free roaming you would still get charged for roaming on calls and texts. Would advise the BASIC bundle £6 which is 5gb plus unlimited calls/texts for a month. Let them know it is for a one off trip and the free bundle should resume after 30 days.

Well you can certainly top up RWG using a voucher (a massive 16 digit number) obtained by paying dosh to staff at Tesco and asking for a Now Mobile topup voucher.

I've done this for some months now as my experience of topping up via the RWG website was not very positive!

Thank you. Finally a way to get my credit out of Airtime Rewards - I am on the 1p Lebara deal and although you can get the AR credit as a PAYG voucher for Lebara - they insist on charging monthly rolling contracts to a card even if you have credit.  Hopefully i can use this now on RWG instead.
