Hello fellow turtles
The holiday to Florida was great and watching DS’s face as he experienced a rollercoaster for the first time was priceless. The holiday, however, was the complete opposite of priceless. I’ve just made a payment to the credit card to pay off the balance. Now I can focus back on my ninja turtle goal of slowly and steadily munching away at our mortgage. And saving for three upcoming trips to London!
This month I want to get into the habit of walking every day especially now that the weather’s getting better, and to get back to eating healthy after a 3-week diet of pizzas, burgers, and ice cream.
Gardening is not my forte but I have aspirations for something bright and beautiful. I just don’t know where to begin. Any advice?
Grateful for a good holiday, for keeping under budget, and for our home.

Idee glad you had a fab holiday Florida isn't cheapest of holiday, used to go a lot when kids where younger.
Today did more food shopping as veg got yesterday wasn't great, also needed a few more things. Is plain flour hard to buy atm or is it just me? Perhaps a run on it with pancakes? Seen petrol above 160p mark today it is scary.
Haven't got kids tonight so having a spa night. Cooked shredded pork in slow cooker so rolls and coleslaw tomorrow with it.
Have to confess only walking I did was around the shops, it was freezing cold near the seafront. Got some washing part dried and put another lot out after another rain shower.
Idee bit early to plant much outside atm, I just have few tubs with daffodils in, the little small ones. I fancy doing raised beds with veg this year. Most of my garden I have bushes in. Will start tidying up when not so wet the ground.
Bought new tea coffee cannisters today fed up of metal ones rusting, so got some fairly cheap pottery ones. Now my extractor fan has decided to stop working sure its just over a year old, can't find socket to check it, have feeling have to take the fitted oven out to see it - eek.
Grateful for
Cheap lunch at sausage roll place.
Hot drinks on a cold day.
Heating put on tonight, needed to dry clothes and warm my paws up.

Today I am grateful for seeing my GP, for dc choosing some bday cards, for the hyacinths showing their faces, for my skipping rope, for dh taking dc out to youth tonight (and I get 2.5 hours alone!!!)Today I'm trying hard to get through school prep, which will make next week much easier. I tend to put it off again and again and again. But when I do settle to it, it often doesn't take as long as I expected. That's one trait I want to prod and poke in March.NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!11

Evening turtles
Not much to report today, quiet day wfh. Caught up with a friend currently living abroad. Did a few quick jobs around the house dealing with frogs.
Grateful for sunshine, walking, a workout.11 -
Evening Turtles. Sorry, I seem to have been awol for a couple of days.Nothing much going on here, still not achieved an NSD, but only minor spends and the weeks shopping. Calling eek to the petrol price near you, the highest I have seen round here is 156.9. I live on the east kent coast, and the nearer you get to the Isle of Grain the cheaper the fuel is for some strange reason.
Today I am grateful for a visit with my Dad and sister, taking the meter readings and seeing a huge difference in the electric usage since DS1 went to Canada (what was he doing???) and losing one and a half pounds on my weekly weigh in (only a stone to go!)11 -

Went to my house yesterday. Spent about an hour sitting outside in light drizzle, scraping away at the paving stones with a hoe - not fun but at least I can move round most of the garden without slipping and sliding. Moved some of the pots I took last week, set up four of the garden chairs in a line along the wall.
Did more moving things upstairs, moved the rubbish bag, gave DS3 the remaining sheets of card to cut up (did a lot last week but there were 3 large tough pieces which wouldn't fold). Was quite prepared to move stuff around myself but there were too many things in my way.
Did a quick shop and was picked up from there by my taxi back to the bungalow. In bed early and awake at 4am. Got up about 6 am and at just gone 7am I was pushing the SM trolley with my bay tree and a large 50 l container (half filled with soil) so I could check the spacing of the chairs.
A little bit more scraping, a few more pots moved then managed to move my builder's plank across the garden and into place across the arms of the metal chairs. Left the trolley there and set off back to the bus stop. Saw one bus heading for the infirmary so thought it would be roughly half an hour before it got back.
Felt a bit wiped out by the time I reached the bungalow (had a second breakfast as the first one was around 5 am). Phone call from ex-s-i-l. She had been trying the landline whilst I was trekking across town and couldn't get any reply from my niece either. S-i-l arrived about an hour later with niece and her friend, both looking half asleep. I'd moved pots out to the side of the house as that was where the car was last week.
Wasn't sure I'd be any use handling pots so sent niece's friend in the car - he was a bit bemused as he's never been to my house but he understood my instructions once he got there (large pots in the spaces between the chairs and worked out for himself that smaller pots could go along the length of the builder's plank. All but one of the 50 l pots have gone and most of the smaller ones too.
Niece and I emptied the temporary raised bed (no digging), filled the bin I emptied on Monday with boards, slats, all the joining bits and the bars for the mini greenhouse, lined up the next batch of pots and replaced the small panels along the neighbours side of the front garden - had some on one side which were a lot better condition than the ones in use.
Have filled about 4 binbags during the day. Had put the fairies and hedgehogs (and 2 Yorkshire terriers) on one side for s-i-l. She also fell in love with mum's doll so that has left the house and took the album of photos of cakes mum has made for my younger niece. She's going to have the hospital bed for her mum (key problem sorted) and took the incontinence pads with her. She gave niece and friend a lift back so they took another 3 large boxes and a mirror (none of which would fit in the rucksack).
Will regroup next Thursday (probably without niece's friend as another colleague has gone off sick so he may not get his usual days off). Plans are to move most of my remaining stuff by the carload and hopefully have a man and van.
An hour and a half to myself and then DS1 and the grandpuppy arrived (only the puppy's second visit but he turned onto our path without prompting). DS1 has moved stones, folded polytunnel cover and one other (niece and I draped it over the frame earlier to get rid of any trapped water), crushed enough cans to fill a large kitchen bin (for ease of transport) and unscrewed the door sensors so I can pack the alarm and all the bits in a jiffy bag and send it back (no more waiting for them). He took all the frozen meat scraps and half a bag of nappy sacks to use for the dog.
I've changed into my nightie and dressing gown and am in bed (I seem to have been wet and muddy since about 7 am). Yawning my head off so will sleep soon.
Grateful for lots of helper elves, the young boy who offered to push the trolley to the top of the bridge for me, everyone taking things away with them, progress and a bit of time to relax. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage12
