NST February 2022: a month of fives

Good Morning ⛅
Reading through people's posts it sounds like perhaps February has been a tough month so far for a lot of folk. Well done for ploughing on everyone. Everybody is facing up to their own personal demons and we are winning!!!
Yesterday I did keep to my promise; walked to the supermarket - which was a *lot* further than I remember it being. Got my lasagne dish, but the plant mince that I was going to get for free wasn't in stock after all that. I ended up buying regular stuff, and doing a mini-shop - as knew I had to walk all the way home. In the end clocked 15,500 steps and my hips were aching like crazy the last 10 minutes. Maybe I overdid it slightly haha. At any rate, was in bed for 22:40 (much better than my 01-02:00 bedtimes whilst I have been off work) and woke at usual work time. At least tomorrow morning won't be such a shocker!
Thanks Thrifty regarding my date. I think I may go for a nice meal/pamper myself - and maybe drive to a new village pub and kill two goals with one stone! On the subject of goals - I looked at Manchester Museum but is closed until Autumn 2022 so will have a re-think. I wonder if there is anything Space/Dinosaur related anywhere close by...?
Today I am grateful for:
1) A day off to relax and do some reading (aim to finish Book 1/5)
2) My mindfulness app. Headspace is amazing if you have never tried it (can use some of it for free)
3) My morning coffee and a chance to reflect
Today will be = NSD number 4
Have a great Tuesday everyone x

Hi turtles
Been catching up and have to admit I too am on the struggle train. I've been feeling really down the last couple of days and completely lacking in any motivation. I did manage to get my steps in yesterday but that's about it. Have to go to the office in a bit so hopefully that will perk me up. Definitely feeling a bit of February blues for whatever reason.
Plasterer came today to do our hallway after I stripped the paper last year. We've rescheduled several times, but he couldn't finish the job today as the glue didn't dry well so he has to come back next week. I'm not too fussed as have put the job off for the 7 years we've lived here, another 7 days will do no harm!
Need to order some new internal doors but struggling to find ones that fit. For some reason nothing in our house is a standard sizeI've found some that are close in size but would need some adjustments, need to find a handyman willing to take on the task!

Evening
i am also in the can’t find my motivation camp. Not sure what’s going on, but I just do not want to move
NSD 5/15 for me, not going anywhere has it’s benefits. I’ve not closed the rings on my watch today, but I did yesterday.
I have started book 2/5.
tomorrow is another day.

Another grey day but made it into a productive one. Contacted water company - only £28. 20 to be paid, then I get 3 months 'grief benefit' - can use as much water as I like and don't pay a penny. Was expecting BT to be just the opposite but very lovely too - nothing owing, I have taken the option to keep the landline and internet until 10th March, then the account will be closed and a final bill made up within 5 days. Looked through the post I picked up at my house at weekend, another letter from mum's works pension - added a note and sent it back as they enclosed a stamped envelope, filled in a feedback for for the crematorium.
Phoned for a taxi, went into the library to sort mum's Council Tax refund (may take a month), took a remote control and some instructions to the Hospice shop (they go with some electrical items my niece and her bf took in on Friday), paid money into my bank, delivered 3 more bags of bric a brac to the YMCA and a bag of carrier bags (appeal on window), bought food (2 chicken wraps and a choc muffin - girl persuaded me to have a second muffin for an extra 40p) and brought the trolley back with me. 6 other letters posted and had a go at cutting my hair (getting a bit shaggy in places). Chopped some greenery at my house and binned it and put the bins out when I got back here. Nice surprise when I went outside at my house - DS3 had called the waste wizards and nearly cleared the yard (and managed not to get rid of the things I want to keep).
Not sure I'll be able to move tomorrow but have plenty of paperwork (want to get all those receipts fastened down before I start losing them). Nearly a sack full of paper gone today.
Grateful for a clear yard (scraped the path a bit with the hoe, need to start setting up for the returning tubs), more front room clutter gone, frog after frog after frog - all gone (couple of elephants on the horizon but will just keep taking a bite), sitting by the side of the canal eating a chicken bake, grey day but only a sprinkle of rain.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage9 -
I didn't check in yesterday and need to catch up on your posts.
NSD 3 today for me.
I have been in the office this week and I am not finding it easy to get back into the routine, I really enjoyed the long working from home mornings and not loving wearing the mask all day again. (it’s still mandatory here) I know it could definitely be worse and I am trying my hardest not to complain out loud. I will have to start taking frequent breaks like the smokers, just to get some air.
I got my five a day in, read, meditated and exercised. I ate a big frog yesterday and another large one tomorrow is on the list. All food from stores.
Grateful for a warm flat, bff’s carrot soup that turned out really well, 85% choc and the free gym.

Today I am grateful for seeing some daffs, for the car enabling easy travel as needed, for getting on top of my marking, for the Pottery Throw Down (albeit a few days late!), for my counsellor.

Evening Turtles. Small spend today as forgot spinach when in Mr T’s yesterday. Made a rather lovely minestrone with all the fridge bottom veg which will do a few lunches. DS1’s journey carried on in the same vein when he arrived in Canada and got stuck in customs for 2 hours. Some queueing and some being questioned. By the time he had got out they had removed all the cases from the carousel and the search took another half an hour when he couldn’t remember what it looked like! He then got chosen for a random PCR test. Swallowed a frog by phoning N@xt to complain that there were still bits of my made to measure blind missing 3 weeks after it was delivered.
Today I am grateful for a phone call from DS1 sounding cheerful, another lovely sunny day and a visit to Dad.10 -

NSD today...literally been at my desk for 12 and a half hours. Still so much to do! Can't catch up.
Grateful for:
- food from the fridge
- sleepy tea
- getting some frogs eaten
I think my month of Fives is all about the work frogs. So much to do. That's what you get for squishing another 7 days of work into 10 days, that's what I get for a couple of 'away days' and a week of leave...the work doesn't stop coming just because I dare to go on leave. No yoga IRL tomorrow...class fee saved I guess.3-month emergency fund (Cash ISA & PBs): £4744/ £6,000

Just finished book #1 ☺️
Woke a couple of times in the early morning, not convinced that I nodded off again after 5.30, but lay with my eyes closed, listening to the wind howling outside.
Another carp day at work, then to top it all, I had my lady 3 year routine appointment afterwards.
Came home to find DS1 had picked mum up as planned, so gave her her birthday presents (most from my stash or used Am4zon vouchers for) & decorated her cake, was yummy! Played a card game, then took her back home. Had a long bath on my return.
Been feeling a bit low the last couple of days too, & not really looking after myself, so need to do something about it! Two days until half term, then I can do things at a slower pace. Hugs to all
Grateful for a colleague making brownies for this morning's snack, good books, mum having a lovely time (& now has a nice, new shower installed), laughter, time to relax after being a whirling dervishUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃
