I hope everyone is having a good weekendjwil said:Great that you've been able to pay for the survey without using savings. I agree that life feels much more comfortable with a £1k emergency fund.
Thanks both. I know just £1000 will really help with my feeling more secureSkint_yet_Again said:^^^ I agree with you dia & jwil.I could take money out of my equity if I needed to or use credit card, but when my interest comes in feb I will be setting aside £1000 for an emergency fund.
Thank you. If the survey is not too awful next week I will be able to exhale.MovingForwards said:You've done well getting this far and after next week things will be calmer.

Yes, the improvement and potentially no op is indeed great. I am going to keep up my osteopathy but probably bi monthly with a massage bi monthly too. In between lots of walking. The moving every hour and drinking water is great and the young one in the house gets up with me for a stretch and a dance about. Then we both drink water
Today, I spent on breakfast out for a young relative. They had a milkshake too. I had a coffee and it cost me over £20. I bought some drinks for election night too. That cost £30, so this weekend has been expensive. I turned down the offer of another concert. It has to stop somewhere.
I saw a mattress on sale for 20% off until July 20. It is expensive. Thinking about whether buying it now would make sense. The plan is to wait until after the survey then think again...
I resisted buying from my favourite shop. I needed a few things, like a raincoat, that are now sold out. I will keep looking for a raincoat in the charity shop. Something suitable might come up. I was on the hunt for a belt last week and a beautiful one came up for £3.50

Today I received the electrical safety certificate and the boiler installation certificate. The house is part newly rewired and the rest of the wiring is about 15 years old but in a good condition according to the report.
So today my house angst (that I am sharing here rather than boring people in RL) is the house was renovated by a house renovating company. I only today had details of their company so I looked them up. They seem ok. I looked up the major shareholder of the company and there was nothing online that suggested an issue.- I am waiting for information on accessing the floor recess.
- I am waiting on information for building regs for the loft. I need them before Friday when the survey takes place. Other than that nothing is currently outstanding.
I hope everyone is ok today

I think sensible to hold off on the mattress and then order once you are in a long term home and can get it delivered to the room. Ours was really hard to get up the stairs! My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

That's great news about the electrics, one thing less to worry about! If you haven't found anything negative online about the renovation company, then hopefully that's a good sign. Fingers crossed all is well after the survey too.
I agree with leaving the mattress for now. The inconvenience and hassle would probably outweigh any monetary saving."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee2 -
I believe you can look at the regs portal to see if there's any details, it's just directly asking BR you can't do. Perhaps that will allay concerns and allow you to update the surveyor? If an official response is received from the seller / sols you can forward that on too.
Glad you're holding off on the mattress, others will appear when it's more convenient for you.
Not sure about your GP but mine has exercise help sheets to download and follow, maybe check yours and the NH$ site as a way of getting/ doing something in-between your private appointments. Also have a look at beginners yoga on YT to help with stretching etc.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3
