I think after your previous house surveys its natural to feel trepidation. Perhaps as people advised me at the time - work out what you can live with ahead of time if you can and decide what would tip you to re-negotiate or pull out.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030

It’s natural to worry when you don’t have all the information you need and these things seem to take an age. You’re not just buying a house, you’re looking for a home. Keep that in mind3

I agree with leaving the mattress for now. The inconvenience and hassle would probably outweigh any monetary saving. If you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

Glad you're holding off on the mattress, others will appear when it's more convenient for you.
Not sure about your GP but mine has exercise help sheets to download and follow, maybe check yours and the NH$ site as a way of getting/ doing something in-between your private appointments. Also have a look at beginners yoga on YT to help with stretching etc.
I need to get better at exercising. I do have self help sheetsIf you have built castles in the air, your work should not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them

So, the good news is the survey took place. The surveyor called before he went in so I could share concerns and things to pay particular attention to. Even though the actual report won't be available for a week to 10 days, he called me straight after the survey for an overall impression. He said there was nothing especially scary. There are issues but nothing insurmountable. Structurally it seems fine. I was in the new area for the weekend so that was nice. I was able to spend time with the friend I stayed with for a long time and enjoy it.
The new home seems so much more of a possibility now although I realise it isn't a done deal until after contract have been exchanged. We are waiting for searches to come back now...
In other news a small windfall from a financial company. They owed me (unknown to me) some money. I immediately paid off the credit card that had some solicitors costs on it. I then put away the money to pay for a new washing machine to be purchased and plumbed in. I also paid for a glass of something nice for my friend and I. I am pleased as that protects my emergency savings again
