Laurels (or sometimes laurel wreaths) were awarded to successful generals in ancient times. To rest on your laurels means to coast on previous achievements rather than doing new thingsI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

I knew what it meant, that's why I used it, but not its origins at the time. But thanks anywaymark55man said:Laurels (or sometimes laurel wreaths) were awarded to successful generals in ancient times. To rest on your laurels means to coast on previous achievements rather than doing new things

I always figured that resting on one's laurels might cause a rash on the tush. Might be looking at the wrong plant.mark55man said:Laurels (or sometimes laurel wreaths) were awarded to successful generals in ancient times. Thanks @RosaBernicia (it was always @MuffinTops with the cheerleaders/dancing girls emoji

Two uplifting phone calls with friends. One of the friends invited me to stay for a week next week so I don't need to stay here. I am ok, but I really appreciated the invitation.
I have my ticket booked and my friend will meet me at the station so I feel a bit more relaxed as I won't need to find the house by myself.
MSE- walked to a l1d1 and bought healthy food instead of buying it more expensive nearer by.
- saved 80p by buying my travel tickets direct instead of through T-line.
- resisted eating out, made soup when I got in instead.
- bought the l1d1 veg box for 1.50 and turned most of it into veggie soup except for the asparagus that I am saving for a treat!
I hope you all had a good day.
