EDF also seem to be charging me more than the Price Cap!

Their rate (cash cheque/monthly - including VAT)
Gas unit rate: 4.410p per kWh
Daily standing charge: 30.78p per day

But the online Price cap calculator (including VAT)
says the limit for my region should be:

Standard Credit Price Cap Rates (Pay on Bill)
    Gas Rate (pence per kWh)
    4.2008
Gas Standing Charge (pence per day)
    29.3178

    VAT!

Presumably you are in the London supply region where the official cap set by Ofgem is:

    £107.01 maximum annual standing charge
£611.10 maximum annual cost for an average user (12,000 kWh pa)

    The above prices exclude vat.

The EDF rates, which are quoted including vat, seem to match this cap.

I don't know what calculator you are using, but it appears to reflect the non-vat rates based upon a supplier applying the maximum standing charge permitted.

Edit: I see @Curiousgirl1 has already posted a similar comment earlier whilst I was looking this up for you :)

This is the calculator I'm using:
"Prices shown above now include VAT at 5% so will be higher than OFGEM numbers by 5% as the default values don't include it"
It also shows Prepay and Pay on bill rates and Direct debit.

Think that is just something an MSE user made up.  It's not official.

    The official figures are here:
    https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/publications/default-tariff-cap-level-1-october-2021-31-march-2022

    - the first subsidiary document has the details :)

It says it includes VAT, but (checking my region) it doesn't.
Here's a graphic another MSE user (me) made up showing the max SC and unit rates. The first two columns for each fuel exclude VAT, the second two (headed SC ppd and ppkWh) include it @ 5%:

Contacted EDF on Twitter and it confirmed receipt of the meter reading I submitted, and the correct figure. The agent seemed to think that Zog would bill up to 14/12, and EDF from 15/12. Remains to be seen.
Fingers crossed we get the 4th to 14th free
    Not a hope.
I've spoken to EDF and they've told me that this is being dealt with in the same way that a 'normal' switch would. The opening reading that you submit will be sent to an industry partner to be verified, then forwarded to Zog and EDF for Zog to produce a final bill and for EDF to use as the opening reading.

    From the SoLR 2016 guidance:

2.21. Once appointed, a SoLR will be able to charge the failed supplier’s customers on the basis of its deemed contract rate. This will cover the period from appointment until customers have agreed a replacement contract rate with the SoLR or another supplier of their choice, or the six month period of SoLR appointment expires, whichever is earlier.

Zog cannot charge for the period up to the 14th December as its Supply Licence was revoked the moment that EDF took over. I am expecting EDF to make an appropriate charge. EDF was appointed as Zog’s SoLR on the 4th December.

There is nothing in EDF’s advice which is incorrect. The meter reading that you have provided will be validated by EDF’s data collector and then adjusted back to the 3rd December for closing and opening billing purposes. Given that Zog will have customer or smart meter readings for the 30th November this shouldn’t be that difficult. FWiW, my smart meter is already showing EDF as my supplier with the correct tariff information.

Their customer services are under the impression that billing will be from today. Maybe they haven't been given any information and are just making assumptions. But, as I said, we'll see...

I have learned over the years to be wary of anything that a CS staff member might say over the telephone. I was told last week by a senior manager in my local DNO’s customer services that DNO’s have absolutely no interest in, or access to my smart meter data. After politely suggesting that a call to their smart/digital team might be in order, the DNO has miraculously retrieved the historical Grid voltage information that I was seeking. All DNOs are Registered DCC Users.

I don't disagree and it's almost certain that EDF's CS are incorrect. It doesn't bother me either way because there is only 0.5p/kWh difference between what I was paying with Zog and will be paying with EDF.
