Zog has gone 😢

I have received the emails and the letter from EDF. However as many do with a supplier they build up a large credit with them for use for the winter months. Now in winter the supplier goes bust and means that I will have to pay EDF ENERGY until someone pulls there finger out for the my account credit to finally appear.
Does anyone know how long does it take for the credits from Zog to appear with EDF?
It is one thing that the rates are nearly double but another thing to demand payment of bills when credits are still outstanding.
Hence I am dubious to provide any DD details until the credit appears on my account?
Are you all giving them the details first or awaiting until the correct balances appear?

If you don't set up a DD then you'll stay on the more expensive Cash/Cheque/Debit Card tariff and will have to pay that monthly pending any credit balance from Zog being transferred.Adviceuk3 said:I have received the emails and the letter from EDF. Anyone know how long does it take for the credits from Zog to appear with EDF?Before this crisis, it usually took a couple of months, but I suspect for most it will be longer than that, owing to the sheer number of failures. On the other hand, Zog was pretty small and, unusually, EDF do seem to have got a grip of the situation and Zog knew this was coming, so final accounts may be calculated quite quickly. So, in brief, how long's a piece of string?0

Are you all giving them the details first or awaiting until the correct balances appear?Only if you leave it until after 31 Jan 2022. From the Welcome page:-Please set up your Direct Debit on or before 31 January 2022 and you're guaranteed the cheaper rate that Direct Debit customers benefit from. If you set up your Direct Debit before 31 January 2022, we'll assess your account and credit you back any monies owed.1 -
It does make you think never to build up any credit with any supplier and keep it in a bank account.
Then just pay your bills monthly as they are charged.
I have nearly £500.00 in credit with Zog on last statement and think is bit of a cheek to ask to pay from them going bust until EDF eventually sorts the mess out.
Suppose we cant do anything about it and just pay

The moral is obviously not to let credit build up to such an enormous amount. Whenever I've been unable to pay for my exact usage with a supplier, I've never let it build up more than a month (or two at the most). I've also never had an issue getting the credit refunded when I've asked.Adviceuk3 said:It does make you think never to build up any credit with any supplier and keep it in a bank account.

I read recently on this forum about peope having a variable pay monthly direct debit for only what they use and really owe but I don't recall any provider offering me that option? Zog didn't , hence the build up of credit.0

I was on the impression Zog made you do this to have a fixed monthly direct debit. Hence your paying more in the summer to compensate the winter payments.Patr100 said:I read recently on this forum about peope having a variable pay monthly direct debit for only what they use and really owe but I don't recall any provider offering me that option? I've had it with a few providers over the years, and EDF offer it, of course. With fixed DDs I just get them to reduce it again if they can't justify an increase. Never had any issues if I support my case with my own calculations.Patr100 said:I read recently on this forum about peope having a variable pay monthly direct debit for only what they use and really owe but I don't recall any provider offering me that option?
