Zog has gone 😢

Depends when you joined them. When I joined Zog they did not force seasonal payments ie less in the summer, , when I was with So Energy previously they offered it which I took. However that is different to PAYG on a variable DD each month.Adviceuk3 said:
I was on the impression Zog made you do this to have a fixed monthly direct debit. Hence your paying more in the summer to compensate the winter payments.Patr100 said:I read recently on this forum about peope having a variable pay monthly direct debit for only what they use and really owe but I don't recall any provider offering me that option? Zog didn't , hence the build up of credit.0 -
If you give an accurate annual consumption figure when you sign up you don't build up really excessive credit, IME.I suppose it is more of a problem if you switch in the spring, rather than the autumn, though.0

When I joined Zog in February, I gave them an estimated usage of 5700. They insisted on using 6900, which they supposedly got from historical records. I am on track for using 5700, but luckily was only £60 in credit when they went to the wall.
Zog were good, but they were not angels.

How on earth do you build up £500 credit with Zog? That's rather more than a year's average gas use!Adviceuk3 said:I have nearly £500.00 in credit with Zog on last statement and think is bit of a cheek to ask to pay from them going bust until EDF eventually sorts the mess out.

I gave them an exact annual KWH figure from my previous supplier. They still over estimated the projected usage. I've ended up £40 in credit.Verdigris said:If you give an accurate annual consumption figure when you sign up you don't build up really excessive credit, IME.I suppose it is more of a problem if you switch in the spring, rather than the autumn, though.
I would have eventually asked them to adjust the DD payments had it not been rocking an already shaky boat with all the suppliers falling by the wayside.0 -
EDF also seem to be charging me more than the Price Cap!
Their rate (cash cheque/monthly - including VAT)
Gas unit rate: 4.410p per kWh
Daily standing charge: 30.78p per day
But the online Price cap calculator (including VAT)
says the limit for my region should be:Standard Credit Price Cap Rates (Pay on Bill)Gas Rate (pence per kWh)4.2008Gas Standing Charge (pence per day)29.31780 -

Their rate (cash cheque/monthly - including VAT) ...The online calculator written by jimjames - in fact most of the discussion here - is based on the monthly DD prices. The cap is higher for cash/cheque payments. The rate will fall when you set up your DD, and EDF say you have until mid-January to do so.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Tried chat with EDF this morning to see if they could set up my DD (as did that with BG with no problem) but she wasn't able to yet as account still in registration phase. However at least she could confirm they had got the meter read I submitted yesterday despite it not appearing on app or web portal. Progress of a kind I guess0

The top one is the bottom one + 5% VAT so although it might say it’s included, maybe it isn’tPatr100 said:EDF also seem to be charging me more than the Price Cap!

@Shedman I appreciate the convenience, but IIRC aren't the BG prices for DD and standard payment the same (unlike EDF where DD is cheaper)?0
