Will we (ex-Zog customers) get some official notification of this?  Email? Snail mail?

Come on ofgem, you know it makes sense to put us with BG…
Ugh - it's EDF from today. Hopefully they've improved from how they were 10 years ago when I was last with them.
I was with them in 2013 for dual fuel and 2016-17 gas only and didn't have any problems.

I'm assuming that EDF will bill us from the 1st November at Zog rates and from the 4th December at their rates, or am I expecting too much?

Zog will only lose their supply licence at midnight on 3rd when EDF then takeover so any charges until then should be made by Zog at your current tariff and included as part of their final bill.

Was signed up for this winter and the next at 2.7 p per kw/h. Going to 3.955 p with a big rise coming up in April. Costly.

Presumably, since they have stated that they will start us on the Cash/Cheque payment method, we'll have to pay the slightly higher price until we set up a direct debit with them.
I think it would be very bad form if they didn't offer to backdate the DD rate to the start of supply provided that the customer sets up the direct debit straight away when asked. We shall see, but I can't believe that wouldn't be the case.

I was with them until September this year (after they were the SoLR for GNE) - their customer support were lovely and usually managed to fix the problems introduced by their utterly inept systems (e.g. inability to accept meter readings, random charges added to the account, withdrawn, different ones added, then withdrawn again, incorrect bills etc.) after no more than two attempts. Unfortunately, my experience was that they were the worst energy company I've dealt with - annoying to be back with them (at least it is only gas this time and maybe, just maybe, they've improved since).

Are these prices inline with other suppliers? My change is 3p to 4p per kWh

Yes. 4p is the price cap, which is way below the current wholesale cost of gas.

Thanks all.  Sounds like its pretty quick to get SoLR and first contact from new supplier.  Understand it may take bit of time to get everyone's account setup, I presume the email will state when they need a meter reading by as my gas meter isn't a smart meter so will need to manually provide it and unfortunately, my last meter reading was August, I haven't given Zog readings since, they has estimated them so will likely be more than I've actually used.
    Thanks

I'd encourage you to not set expectations too high for how fast things will happen, to avoid disappointment.

I was with Pure Planet who went out of business in mid-October and the latest info. is that my account will transfer to the SOLR (Shell) in January. E-mails with info. were sent fairly quickly though, and the DDs should be transferred from one to the other rather than new ones needing to be set up. Time will tell...
