Just had a statement and there's still no news about what the mystery credit was for..
Needless to say, the Welcome to EDF page hasn't been updated either.  Communication certainly isn't one of EDF's strengths.

There should be another line which would be the balance at the beginning  ( a debit balance of £228.00)-  the same as the balance carried forward from the last bill

EDF do provide some challenges -  have you not had an email about the £112/73 ?  They seem to introduce odd things and then they disappear
Nope, no communication at all. This is the first bill so no balance carried forward. I can't believe how difficult EDF are making this for themselves. I can understand the process of loading data from Zog might be tricky but this is all their systems now.

  • The fact is that EDF, and the other suppliers, should be penalised by Ofgem for making a complete pigs ear of the SoLR process. However, not only are they not penalised, they are effectively rewarded

    1) By gaining large numbers of customers and revenue streams.
    2) Claiming all their incremental costs back from Ofgem, plus probably adding a bit, which are then passed on to all customers via massive standing charges. Which, no doubt, will never go back down in the future.

Does anyone actually audit or verify the cost reclaims? I doubt it somehow.

Would it not be more efficient to give the suppliers their own printing press, so they can print their own money? Meanwhile, God knows what will happen with Bulb.

Suppliers are making a loss on SoLR customers.

There is no "adding a bit".
Which, no doubt, will never go back down in the future.
The calculation of the standing charge is transparent, and all the input values are published. Once the SoLR costs have been paid, that element of the calculation will be removed.

Yes, Ofgem does. You can see the history of previous SoLR claims in the documents on Ofgem's website.

A week last Friday, I contacted EDF on WhatsApp to say that I would like to pay my £16.21 debit, but need a bill before I do.  They are adament that a bill for £16.21 is on my account, but as you can see it is not.  They also aksed me why I wanted a bill?

I know this is a small amount of money, but do I have to pay something which I have not been billed for?

Their terminology irritates me, too. They don't mean -£16.21 in debit, they mean £16.21 in debit. -£16.21 in debit is actually £16.21 in credit!

And despite assurances to the contrary last week from their agents a DD has been taken today for £112, a sum that was not showing anywhere on my account last week and bears no relation to any balance. Complaint is already in but this is making me pretty angry - it doesn't affect me personally too much but for a lot of people having a DD of £112 taken out despite being told it wouldn't happen will wreck their budget for the month.

@PennineAcute  This "Your Account Balance" is a item which seems to occur on some peoples "Bills and Statements" but not on others -  it's not on my Electric (ex GNE) fix or on my GAS (ex ZOG) variable.  (I only use the web - perhaps is an app thing)

I don't read that "Your Account Balance" as a bill  - it's an end on month statement.

But EDF  the Dec 5 - 15 "This is not a request for payment"  is printed on a sheet of paper headed "Bill Date"  and is on "Bills and Payments" as a Debit but no bill.

A few quirks along the way isn't there - there is no "Bills and Payments" lozenge on my Gas but not my Electric
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

How do you get to see your balance on screen?

I am on My bills and payment section but all i have is "your latest bill" and "coming up" and "past activity".

I think it looks that way if you are on variable monthly whole amount DD.
