I've been having a different issue:

Was in the middle of a switch-out from Green to Sainsbury's when the news broke of Shell taking over and sure as eggs is eggs, I had two suppliers overlapping for a brief period in October.  Waited for Shell to get their house in order with Green hoping that they would have registered the correct change in supplier and only bill me for a few days that I was technically a Shell customer.  They didn't and of course billed me £500 for 3 months of supply based on estimated values.  To be fair Customer Services acknowledged the error and said they would put a stop to the collections while the systems were sorted out their end, except this did not get to their payment collections department who are now sending me daily emails and texts threatening debt management agencies.  This despite the fact that I have two documented conversations with their colleagues saying I shouldn't have to worry.  To say it's been stressful doesn't even do it justice.

Has anyone still been having their direct debit come out to green ? we had our last payment to green on the 28th December. None of these payments have been credited onto our shell account and its stressing me out. We were originally £536 in credit on our final bill , but now its obviously saying there is no credit as that has been used to pay the bills and the £165 a month to green we have been paying is awol . Any advise please
Massive Thank you to all who post comps & answers on here .i'm very grateful , good luck all.

My last DD payment to Green was 4 October I can't remember if I cancelled the DD after that. I received their final bill on 19th November. I was £404 in credit and Shell have acknowledged this in my bills with them. Do you have the final bill from Green showing your credit balance? If you have payments that were taken by Green and not credited to your final bill then I think you will need to contact your bank to make a claim under the DD Guarantee.
  • Has anyone else had an email from Green's Administrators saying that they have to pay their final bill to Creditstyle. Im having problems contacting them because both their phone system and online form wants a Creditstyle reference number that I have not been sent by Green. Ive tried my Green account number which wont work. Has anyone got any contact details that work for contacting the Administrators because emails just bounce saying its an unmanned address.

I had direct debits taken at the end of November by Green that were not on the final bill. On 2 accounts I have with Shell they have been credited to my account as payments in the last days of January.

Not helpful but why on earth didn’t you cancel your DD. Even if told not to why would anyone continue to pay a bankrupt company?

For what it’s worth I cancelled mine in October and my Shell account is fully up and running, credit transferred from Green and Shell just about to take my second DD payment, so all good.

I would always cancel DD the moment they announce an energy supplier is going bust, better to owe them money than leave them with their hands on your wallet.

You can do a recall of the Direct Debits under the Direct Debits guarantee.

The money might get to Shell in the end but you are more likely to spend months getting nasty letters, maybe having a credit meter put in and you credit record affected.

Recall the DD's now, the company ceased trade in September so can't provide you with energy, it had no place taking the payments beyond September.

Can you still access your Green account? If so get a screen shot of the payments screen showing dates of dd taken. Check that they have not issued another final bill with corrections. Did your finally bill have actual readings on it that you had submitted or was it estimated readings. I had £400 of credit transferred over to Shell which is "used" up for the electric Ive used since transfer as you would expect. How many £165 payments are you missing? I believe we were originally advised to not cancel our direct debits.

I had my initial credit transferred over on 20 October. It was incorrect.  After discussions with greens administrators I got the final correct credit transferred last week 27th January. Shell still haven't updated my meter on their records though (I had new meter installed 3 weeks before bankruptcy) despite admitting it is now correct on the national database

Well I can now answer my own question, which maybe of help to someone else. I have today received a letter in the post from Credit Style asking for payment of the outstanding amount on the Green account. It also includes a printed copy of the final bill so that's helpful if you have not been able to get one from the online account. They include bank account and sort code for direct payment and even advise that you can pay by cheque by post. I do notice that the letter is dated 8 days from the date I received it making the "Pay within 7 days" pointless. They are also offering a payment plan for people with a big bill that they were not expecting. Its possible letters are only sent out if you ignore their phone calls.
