Good advice, I'm sure... if you have a Twitter account!smugwalrus said:masca said:Still no account here! Can anyone confirm whether Shell's live chat actually ever works? Thanks.
Skip live chat, email etc with Shell, go straight to their Twitter team and send them a direct message on there. Guaranteed a much more helpful and speedier response2 -
It looks like I will shortly be doing the same! 30 mins on the phone 2 weeks ago getting account manually setup (inc DD), and still nothing heard, so I've just called again only to be told that they still have no records for me!! Now been transferred a couple of times (to the wrong team), 45 mins later and counting... and I'm on hold again...AlistairS said:Been chasing them since September. No account setup, no emails, no direct debit setup even they I have tried. Filled in the online complaint this morning now. Sick of it0 -
You have to be joking! Why should I have to set up a Twitter account in order to combat Shell's/Ofgem's/the system's incompetency! I have a telephone number and an email address. I even have an old fashioned postal address! And yet so far I've been waiting 4 months for my account to be set up!lisyloo said:

I don't think even anyone would want to take that away from you. However if you want an easier life, you could give Twitter a try. You could even create an account and message Shell while you're waiting in their phone queue.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. if you’re worried About the budgeting then put the money aside.0 -
I'm not stressing. I'm just amazed at the incompetency of Shell and I'd like to take this issue off my to do list! I also don't see why I should have to give my data to a third party in order to resolve the issue.
I was multitasking whilst on hold.

Masca - the people on the twitter account know what they're doing and will help you far better than those emailing or calling. Yes it may mean you need a social media account, but you'll get a much better level of service from there. You don't need to use your real name or anything when creating the account, and can set it to private. It needs no more information than what you've signed up here with. Just pop them a direct message and chat away.

I agree with you, but that’s the way the world is going, so you can make things easy on yourself by creating an account or not.masca said:I'm not stressing. as an aside I find following qualified people on twitter far more educational than the news0 -
I need to get in touch with shell. We have a meter problem which we thought was being dealt with but despite several promises from them to call back etc, nothing has happened.
As a dinosaur who doesn’t have face book or follow any social media (including the news) I wouldn’t know where to start with a Twitter account, I don’t actually know what it is!
it does seem difficult that this is what you have to do now to communicate successfully with companies.0 -
I had a meter problem too. I used the chat feature on their web page. I was fobbed off the first time when they told me the meter problem had been logged with their metering team and must be dealt within 10 days. When I contacted them again 4 weeks later as nothing happened they apologised and booked an appointment for a physical meter check - my gas meter is not sending readings and the display is blank. This has taken a while as postponed due to staff sickness, but now scheduled for next week.Granniesue69 said:I need to get in touch with shell.
