  • Granniesue - maybe they're taking into consideration the price increase on April 1st?

Almost certainly, yes. They will be looking at the next 12 months estimated bill and dividing by 12. They must be getting concerned that some customers will not be able to pay as the cap hike expected October 2022 could be even bigger than currently estimated if the Ukraine crisis pushes the wholesale price even further.
  • Oh well, beans on toast again for supper?

Shell aren't organised enough to be factoring in any price increases. Utter shambles. Still awaiting my correct electricity meter being recognised.  Getting fed up of the stalling and diversionary tactics now. They say it's now correct on the national database but their systems don't recognise it yet and it will take 21 days from 1st Feb. That's expired now. Meanwhile I still cannot give readings and only bill I had on Dec 14 was grossly inaccurate

I too doubt they are that organised.
personally I think as long as you can afford their bills then I wouldn’t be too bothered about underpaying if it’s just a suggestion rather than a mandate.
The recent debacle has shown it’s better to owe money rather than be owed.
the only caveat is that you budget and can afford your consumption.
  • They must be somewhat organised, they just sent me my new rates and annual projection applying from the cap rise in April - Ouch! 😬
  • Oh golly, just had notification from shell of new rates from April.
Gone from flexible 6 to flexible 7, standing charge 41+p per day. Unit rate 29+p from standing charge 24 and unit rate 21. It really will be beans on toast every meal!

Thanks for the warning, haven't had advice of new rates yet.   But I have already increased my budget spreadsheet from April by 54% so hoping I won't be too shocked.  😭
  • My annual projection has increased by 54.2% from current across both electricity and gas.
