Green Supplier Ltd switch to Shell Energy

I had my first bill from Shell in December but they haven't yet setup a direct debit with my bank, I previously paid green by DD - is this the case for others too? Should I wait for them to instigate the direct debit or arrange it myself?0

I received emails from Shell about the switch within a day!0 -
I had my first bill from shell. Don't laugh sept 27 til Dec 12. Obviously incorrect0

Getting so frustrated with Shell. My account is running, direct debit paid last month, concerned my readings via smart meter aren’t reaching them as the energy use graphs are showing zero usage so far since take over. Can’t submit readings as I have a smart meter so no facility for sending readings manually. I changed from economy 7 tariff last week to single tariff, as I thought, as we’re no longer using storage heaters. After a lengthy telephone conversation asking whether or not I would be able to use the restricted supply, ie water heater on night rate supply, during the day and being assured I would be able to use them during the day, I find I can’t. I did think this would be the case which is why I phoned to find out. The operators don’t seem to have any basic knowledge of how their systems work. I’ve emailed twice since but guess what, no reply.
is there any company out there who knows what they’re doing?0 -

Your water heater is still on the "storage heater" supply? And you've chosen to switch away from E7 to a single-rate?N. Hampshire, he/him. I didn’t think the change would be as simple as just changing tariffs which is why I phoned, the person I spoke to didn’t understand my query, I have emailed since but no reply.
thank you videoguy, I can read my meter, I work out usage every week to keep track, but I have no usage readings on my account and when I go to submit readings it just says you have a smart meter and there is nowhere on the site I can input my readings.0 -
To further explain QrizB, I did ask while I was speaking to them if a meter change would be necessary to enable the restricted night supply to be used all day. I was assured this was unnecessary and I would be able to use all appliances all day.
this is obviously not the case but I’ve had no replies to my e mails querying this.
I have little electrical knowledge but I assumed a meter change would have to be made.0 -

Your smart meter most probably has a 24-hour circuit that is live all the time plus a E7 circuit that is only live at the E7 times. Your storage heaters and water tank will have been wired to the E7 side of the system, which (it appears) is never live on your current tariff.Does your HW tank have a "boost" element? This should be wired to the 24h circuit and still be live.N. Hampshire, he/him. Octopus Intelligent Go elec & Tracker gas / Vodafone BB / iD mobile. Ripple Kirk Hill member.
