From where I'm sitting it appears shell just cannot cope with the influx of new customers assigned to them by ofgem.
No reason why they should. Companies don't have staff sitting around twiddling their thumbs. The pandemic isn't helping either. Delays and shortages can be found everywhere. All we get resolved over time. Somebody has to be last to be dealt with as well.

Hi - I'd like to add my story to this thread, in the hope that it may help.

In early September 2021, I saw the "writing on the wall" for Green, and felt that there was trouble ahead. I negotiated a transfer to Sainsburys (E.ON) and this completed on 19/9/21. So far, so good. Then, a few days later, Green went under. :(
I am not sure I understand. If you already switched away from Green before they went under on the 21st September then your credit balance is between you (or Sainsbuy’s) and the administrator, not Shell. Shell are only responsible for credit balances of customers that were still Green customers at the date of administration.
    I'm sure you're trying to help but I don't think that's true.

What if I’m no longer with Green/Shell Energy – will I still get my credit balance?

We’ll honour all credit balances with Green, even if you were in the process of switching suppliers when Green went into administration.

We’ll be sending out cheques as soon as we can, but this may take two to three weeks, so keep an eye on the post.

Sorry, you are right. Because you are a recent customer then the credit balance would have been paid to Shell for them to pay to you.

Thanks for your contributions, QrizB and thevideoguy. Just finished Twitter chat with Shell now. They wanted to see the whole final bill that I received from Green, (which I was able to provide as jpegs of the PDF) . They confirm that my dates and figures "match up", so they are arranging a cheque refund. Apparently they now need to agree these figures with the administrators, which may take a further 3 weeks, but at least I there's been some progress. :)

Anyone else still not heard anything from Shell, not even initial welcome email? When checking the National register / database it correctly shows my supplier as Shell and has done since not long after the transfer from Green a few months ago. Any chance I might have fallen through the cracks and end up never hearing from them?! (Wishful thinking obviously but would have expected to hear at least something by now.)
Same here - not had a single email from Shell whereas my brother's account with Pure Planet has already been migrated to Shell and is up and running.
Maybe I’m giving them too much credit but I would have thought that they would do a post-transfer audit / reconciliation which will pick up any supplies transferred to Shell that are not being billed / not had account set up yet like mine. Should also mention I only had Gas with Green.
  • Has anyone with Green had a bill from shell or paid one yet? and if so what was the difference? The app is saying it will be over £200 in debit but it used to say around this in winter regardless when with cheaper suppliers for the average usage over the year...

Yes I had one from 27th September (when went over to Shell) to the 12th December and it was £188.
My monthly direct debit to Green was £45 a month and my Bill's were generally about that month but only with them since the end of January last year so can't really compare for the full Winter usage.
It was roughly £144 electricity and £44 gas
  • I had a bill as well from September to 14th December. I was in credit with Green - £157, Shell charged me £269 and I’ve paid one month DD of £111, so I owe them 82 p ! There were a few pence somewhere, we are electricity only, no gas in the building, unfortunately, so waiting for January bill with trepidation!
i was only with Green since July 2021 so I can’t compare either.

Nearly all my Green credit went into my £188 bill. There's about £45 left but also need to recover my £45 direct debit that went to Green in December. I've actually started a switch now to Scottish Power as their 2 year fix is less than the proposed price cap increase.
I received emails from Shell about the switch within a day!

Yes, I was on the Fourier fixed rate with Green. The gas tariff has increased by 67% and electricity by 40%. In total for the same usage for both gas an electricity I was £157 per month with Green but will be £235 with Shell (averaged over a year at the current tariff) a 50% increase overall for my combined power. Can’t say I am looking forward to the next increase in April which is predicted to be a further 40%!

One other thing that might catch some people out was my last DD with Green was 1 Nov, but the first with Shell was 1 Jan. I had to top up my account for the missing month and estimate what the overall debt would look like with these current rates. I don’t want to overpay and let Shell take the advantage of my cash, but also don’t want to go into winter period debt that would require a big top up payment in the Spring.
